[ENG] Sony drops PS3 price to $250 in US, €250 in Europe - Page 5

What the hell is Sony talking about? The Playstation 3 here is selling at 260€. A 10€ drop? Wow! Thanks. I really hate that they are treating us like idiots, not converting the currency properly, but just change the symbol.

250€ does NOT equal 250$.

Americans should be thanking us Europeans. The savings they make we pay for them. I see guys buying cheap stuff off newegg and have these killer rigs. Fry's in store promotions always makes me cringe. Can you guys believe that when the 990x was launched it was 1200 euros??!! I paid for my CFX 5870XXX at launch 1250 euros with shipping. My Formula III mobo was 350 euros when I bought it and the rampage II extreme on my second rig was 420!

I see people here on OCN complainingabout the new INTEL prices for the SB-E k CPUs. They say 500 dollars is too much. Relax guys, it will be 500 euros here (720 dollars).

Sony's move is unsurprising. They make the big bucks in Europe so why should they look at the exchange rate.

P.S: A standard menu at Burger King will hit you 5 pounds. Ask for the super extra and you will pay almost 8 pounds!
P.P.S: 1 l of petrol varies from 1.1 to 1.6 euros / litre!

Businesses don't set identical conversions to screw over Europeans. They do it because it is a lot cheaper to sell products in the US. European countries tend to have higher business taxes, regulations, and tariffs than America.

Each system has it's pros and cons. Europeans get more consumer protections and social benefits, while Americans get cheaper products and have a significantly lower cost of living.

THIS IS FOR ALL THE CURRENCY WHINERS, GLOBAL MARKET 101:

Obviously you don't get how economics work, you won't buy it for less because as soon as you move out to US you won't be making euros but USD instead.

Ie: average wages in US are 1500USD/month average wages in Germany are 1500Euros/month, hence currency equals 1:1. Therefore by receiving your salary in euros and paying 250 euros for a ps3 = receiving salary in USD and paying 250USD for a ps3.

Im tired of the whiners, that are too lazy to go and read a book and would rather complain about the price without seeing the whole picture.

It's BS.

Can I get on that $1500 a month salary?

Well I guess I do make that BEFORE taxes. I wish I was making that after them. I'd be in a good spot right now.

Also I payed $200 for my slim 120gb, when they first came out, from someone who had it for a week . Gota love craigslist

Price drops are good for everyone except the people selling.

So I should thank you for your inferior currency? Never.

Plus, your taxes are horrible.
