Thread Starter
Hey guys

I am thinking of getting a second gtx 580 so I can SLI, but this time a 1.5GB edition. I wondering will I be bottlenecked on a amd 1100t @4.1GHZ.
My first gtx 580 is a palit 3GB.

Thanks for any responce

Doubt so. If my i7 at stock won't bottleneck 2 580s, pretty sure your 1100T at 4.1 won't as well.
A small bit of bottleneck, but really unnoticeable.

I'm not actually sure that they will run together (as Nvidia cards are uber picky about what they can SLI with, possibly including memory size), and it would be a major waste to get a 1.5GB one instead of a 3GB one.

That being said, you will be more limited than say a 2600k @ 4.1ghz, but you should still get some decent frames.

Will you be bottlenecked? Yes, although maybe only slightly.

Will you notice? Probably not.

I can't help you with the bottleneck issue, but I can tell you that your 3gb card is a waste if you SLI it with a 1.5gb card. You can only use 3gb of vram in SLI if both cards have 3gb. So your 3gb card will only be able to use 1.5gb of vram if you SLI it with a 1.5gb card.

We are all bottle-necked somewhere. Your cpu would be your bottleneck, but dont let that stop you, you will still get a nice performance bump. bottlenecks are kind of not worth thinking about.

Cheers for all the responces.
Would you guys recomend waiting till the bulldozer is out then get another 3GB card?

Cheers

The first gen i7 is far superior for SLI setups over the 1100T. It has a better arch to handle more than 1 high end card. The 1100t can handle one, but not two high end cards.

Also the 1100T gets destroyed by a i5 2500k in higher end SLI setups.
