Which OS to buy? OEM?

Thread Starter
Hi everyone,

I'm a first time builder and I'm purchasing my build tomorrow and wondering which OS to buy.

Windows Pro OEM
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...scrollFullInfo

or

Windows Pro Full
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16832116717

I know what the differences are, that is not the question. The question is, for a first time builder, will I have problems with the OEM? What would you recommend for a first time builder? Thanks.

OEMs just don't come with any cool stuff in the package.

Your fine with an OEM, thats what I have and its all the same.

I recommend OEM. It lacks bloatware.

If you think you'll change motherboards, pick the full pro.

What? The full disc doesn't have any bloatware either, what the hell are you talking about?

This.

With OEM your key is tied to that motherboard forever. With full you may do with it as you please (as long as it is installed one time). I don't know about you, but I like to rebuild often, and MS seems to stumble every other OS they put out. ME -> XP -> Vista -> Win7. So I pretty much buy full every other and haven't been disappointed so far.

Thanks for all the replies. I think I'll go with the OEM. I don't think that I will be changing my mobo for a while, and when I do I'll worry about it then.

Newegg has a deal right now for Windows 7 Pro OEM for only $114.99 so I'm going to go with that.

Might be worth a try? Especially if you're still at school.
