question about am2+ and am3 mobos?

ok if i dont get this right can someone please explain it to me because im getting frustrated.

ok if i have an am2+ mobo . will an am3 processor work on it.

and if it will can somone tell me how to update the bios

Yes, if you have an AM2+ motherboard, an AM3 socket processor will work in it. Which motherboard do you have specifically? I can't find it on MSI's website from the info in your signature.

Also, I noticed you posted this in the Intel motherboard section. AM2+ and AM3 and AMD sockets.

Technically yes, check supported cpu list just to make sure.

Couple of year back i've tried AM3 athlon X2 240 on AM2+ board Asus M2a-mx, even without bios update it worked but in bios it mention as "unknown cpu" but it booted windows. Bios update should fix cpu identification issue. Since in my case i replace 65w tdp processor with 65w cpu i didn't face any issue, you should check tdp of board and processor to make sure.

Not all AM2+ boards support AM3.
Better check the cpu support list with the manufacturer website or email them
