I have a dark knight as well (can't wait to get an H100) and my i7-950 @ 4.0ghz load at 71-73C.

I have overheat protection in coretemp enabled to shut her down at 76C... though some say 80C+ is "ok" for short duration I feel otherwise.

In your bios, Auto is the default setting, you need to change to manual setting's and enter them yourself.

Start with the vcore.
Set it to manual, and start with 1.25vcore
If it boots up into windows, then restart, enter the bios, and lower the vcore by 2 steps (the - button)
Save bios settings and reboot.

Keep doing this until it wont boot up.

Then raise your vcore by 2 ticks (+ button)
Save, and reboot, then run Prime95
If prime 95 fails, then re enter the bios, and raise the vcore
by 2 more ticks (using the + button)

You should be stable soon enough, with a lower vcore, and lower temps.

Try reseating the cooler. 80c is really the maximum for i7 chips. Anything above that and you see a decrease in chip integrity.
Yes, thats exactly it!

You want to get that OC to run on the lowest vcore possible.
This will help you run much cooler.
The Auto setting will most likely give to much voltage needed to run your OC stable.

Thats why it's best to go to manual settings, and do the testing.

Whats your Vcore at right now???

On any failed attempt, or successful attempt, please include your current vcore and overclock setting, so I don't have to keep asking!

No, don't bother with Safe Mode.

Also you just said BSOD, I need more detail!
Did it get into windows, and immediately BSOD?
Or did you try running prime95, and it BSOD'ed
Or was it a failed bootup???
