How can i replace Corsair A70 Fans

Thread Starter
I'm thinking of switching the A70's stock fans, theyre too loud, with http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103060&nm_mc=Criteo&cm_cat=Case+Fans&cm_pla=Cooler+Master&cm_ite=35103060&cm_ven=BAC-CriteoBrand 2 of those fans, but i don't know how to take the stock fan off the fan mount for the A70 , Someone teach me ? biggrin.gif Will the Cooler Master Fans be significantly quieter ?

You just unclip the 120 frame and then you need to pull the rubber mounting pillars out of the stock fan and then push the new ones back on. You have to be careful tho, because the rubber pillar things can snap. you might be best easing it with a flat head screw driver.

I would have recomended a set of noctua 120mm but by the time you buy the single fans your only $20-30 off a whole new cpu cooler.

They look like they're mounted with pull through rubber pull through mounts which is very easy to remove if you're careful. Take one edge of the fan at a time and simply pull away from the heatsink. Don't pull the little rubber piece, the fan itself. It may help to push the rubber piece back through the hole as you pull the fan away. Then when you want to install a new fan, line the holes up to the rubber things, then pull them through the holes. You'll notice a thicker part in the rubber that grips the fan.

As for fan noise, the original spec for the A70 is 26-31.5dBA depending on your speed setting. I don't know if that noise level is the free flowing measurement or the mounted to heatsink measurement, since it may be louder once mounted due to air flow blockage and resistance. The CM fans are rated at 19dBa so it seems it will be quieter.
