i was cruising one of my usual PC parts sites today and noticed this thing and thought...what the hell? never heard of it before.

then looked at the price. this site is normally one of the best for pricing, and in AUD its $1699. i'll pass thanks i see nothing at all the even justify buying this card. from australia anyway.

those bench numbers are great, sure. so lets see it up against SLI GTX 580 3Gbs. which would cost around $1200 here.

convenience is one thing, sure. but $400 is very inconvenient imo.

what does it cost over the pond?

To all of those complaining about price:
This is a collector's card, price to performance was never considered when they created this card, it was always about making an epic card for an epic e-epenis. This is more epic than an i7-990X

QFT! If they made only 100 of these cards and priced them at $5000 each I bet they will still be snapped up very quickly.

Nobody is complaining about the price, what people ARE complaining about is that this card sucks performance-wise. If it had 3GB VRAM per card, I and anyone else even without the money to spare for this card would totally understand and be able to justify the asking price, however at 1.5GB it is a worthless piece of crap not worth half its asking price. They're clearly taking the piss by making a 3GB "performance" dual GPU graphics card, considering THEIR OWN last year's flagship Ares card had 4GB. Anyone trying to argue against this is delusional.

Dirt 3 / Heaven Benchmark / Devil May Cry 4 come to mind off the top of my head as very high frame rate.
Similarly few games exist to take advantage of PhysX really but people still tout it as something of god-like greatness. It's all about whats important to you. Not every product is intended for everyone, the sad thing is, I can't see who this is intended for other than collectors of rare LE hardware.

I don't need to state the facts already given in this thread many times. This is simply a gimmick only, and is a pitiful failure on the price/performance spectrum. Nuff Said.
