Best fans for..

Hey all. trying to find the best / quietest fans for my Corsair h50 push pull config. Right meow, i have aerocool shark 120mm on my rad in push pull. One red, one blue. Yes the color makes all the difference. Blue one is like 10 degrees colder On a more serious note, as im new to understanding Static pressure, Are these fans better or worse than scythe gentle typhoon, when it comes to temps? Deciding on what to upgrade / purchase this weekend. Looking at shaving a few degrees off my temps. 4-5 would be awesome, but im not holding my breath. Please advise

I have GTs 1850 and they are good at full speed, but i cant stand the noise of them. They vibrate and whine at 1300 rpm +. Some people say that they are great, maybe I expected too much of them.

It all depends on your ambient noise levels.

In a general environment, AP15's are fine since your ambient noise will muffle them out.

If you want more silence with only maybe a 1-3C rise, take up some AP13's [1150RPMs] which are pretty darn quiet. If you really want to go inaudible in an extremely quiet room, AP12's [800RPM] will work as well.

I'm more of a fan of Noiseblocker fans due to their 6 year warranty and FrozenCPU's support [they're the USA distributor and a pleasure to deal with]

If it's worth anything I had AP15's at full speed and then my Noiseblocker M12-S2's, it was a 2C rise across the board. From AP15 to Noiseblocker, but the M12-S2's are inaudible at a 3-4 foot range in my room, which is dead quiet.

The only way you can really shave off 4-5C is to get one of the higher RPM, extremely loud fans, ie the Delta series and what not. Kaze's work too. You will not, by any means, find a quiet fan that will net you a 4+C drop in temps from your current setup.

I didn't chime in on your other thread, but I'm pretty sure there was some other problem other than the fans. Or you just got a bad batch. I've never heard a vibrating or whining sound from my fans unless I accidentally pressed them up against the radiator. If you were closer I'd offer to test them.

Unless your living in a 747 the ambient noise level aint gunna mask the GTs

Im gonna put some gaskets on them, see if that shuts them up. But they are soo overrated.

I have been a huge supporter of GT's for quite a while, however the NoiseBlockers I have now, may become my new favorites. The NB's are really quiet and they ooze quality!

Gaskets help a teeny bit, but they're pretty stable fans, gaskets just reduce vibrations on the chassis... good luck though, I really hope it works, they aren't cheap [cost] fans. Gaskets also help with minute air leakage if the fan isn't flush on a radiator or something...

I also agree that AP15's are overrated. The lower RPM models are pretty decent, but I've honestly failed to find any better quiet fans than my Noiseblocker fans.

As for the AP15 noise, it's true that you kinda need a high noise environment to block them out, though in a living room with a TV almost always on, they're just ok... I mean audible but not distracting.

AP15's have become the blind recommend item.. quite frankly they're just average fans. They're somewhat cheaply built, fail somewhat often, and have a short warranty. I burned through 4 AP15's before I simply returned them all [after all the RMA's I just requested refunds since shipping costs started catching up hard], got my Noiseblockers and will never go back. :\\

Then again, for some people they're durable as hell... meh.

I really can't rave enough about my Noiseblocker fans. After the crap quality I ran into with Scythe [least FrozenCPU was awesome about RMAs]... mmmmmm silence, quality and performance. Noiseblocker =
