Thread Starter
hi im new to computers, me and a friend are having a bet to see who can build a better computer with $1000 for the game BF3 when it comes out, it need to run smooth and and be able to run the graphics on high, i dont know much so whatever else need to go into it would be nice...im building it from the ground up, if you guys can help that would be great... thanks

Ha sounds good, If you want to get as much for 1000 then wait as long as you can, for the parts to go down in price.

2500k should do the job, in bf3 the 2600k ain't gonna make any difference so spend that money on other stuff.

+ noctua d14

+ windows
+ dvd and HDD if necessary.

Ok, heres what I made up within 5 min. (50$ mail-in-rebate, from trusted compagnie)

The other possibility could be
Instead of getting an i5 2500k, you can get this motherboard
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813157262
and get a new bulldozer when it comes out.
the price would probably decrease but who knows the actual power of the new amd architechture ..?
If Amd will do like speculation (alot of core for the buck (8) ). The i5 would probably be better because BF3 is build to use 4 cores...

- want better GPU? instead of getting an 570. You can get 460 1gb SLI for about the same price (or even an used card)
-SLI 560 would great too but way more expensive

Crysis: Warhead - 1920 x 1200 - Frost Bench - Gamer Quality + Enthusiast Shaders + 4xAA
570 (320$)= 48 fps or so
SLI 460 1gb (150$ each)= 62 fps or so
SLI 560 1gb (190$ each)= 80 fps

source: http://www.guru3d.com/article/geforc...i-sli-review/7
http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/306?vs=314

Getting spin point in raid 0 could be an upgrade too, but I dont recommend it on this budget
8Gb of memory is way enough- 4gb would be enought too (about 20$ difference)
700w is good
EDIT: get this one instead http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817256072

Good luck choosing

I would wait at least until the middle of September to buy anything. With Bulldozer and southern island around the corner it would be stupid to buy anything now.

This but I would swap those RAMS for THIS ($60 with free USB stick)

A 750w is enough for SLI so THIS (XFX PRO Semi Modular 750w $100 after MIR) one would be even better (Not sure how good that CM PSU is)

If your not thinking of SLI then go for THIS (Corsair CX500 V2 for $40 after MIR and further 15% OFF with code EMCYTZT671)

Why? Do you actually expect BD to beat SB so much that intel drops the prices?

You cannot go wrong with a 2500K now or christmas when BD launch's
