oh well.... I shuld be happy with the H80 too though.
Haha, ignore me, I just push my beloved Silver Arrow whenever I can Your H80 will help you reach a pretty sick overclock! Best of luck with your build! And now if you'll excuse me, I have a date with a pillow that I've been neglecting for far too long.

goal is 5. doubt I'll reach it, but I've had good luck with OCing. I'll probably be happy around 4.7

I was thinking of lapping this like my old E4400, but I might not... Don't know yet.

4.8 at 1.41 is pretty good. i heard 1.4 is about tops, but you can go to 1.5

man, I have a long ass day tomorrow. Wish it was a shorter day so I could get out, go to best buy, return the gfx card, and order everything so it comes in asap!!!

That was more for temps, I later found it wasn't stable until 1.424-1.432v at 4.8ghz.

So yeah, trying to hit 5.0, alrighty then.

lol..... I started asking myself that question when I woke up and realized I was getting pretty close to 1.5.

I'm not quite sure yet if I'll stay at 1.47 or not. The thing is, I don't really stress the CPU throughout the day as often as some people would. I'm an occasional gamer. Because of that, and that I'm using offset voltage (which means I idle around 1.1 volts), I am not really that worried. I haven't heard of Sandy degrading so why be worried.

Additionally my temps are really good. I will most likely stay at 4.9ghz especially in the winter.... in the summer I might have to think twice, but I think I'm pretty comfortable where I'm at. If I was folding 24/7 I would bring it down to 1.42 prob.

the voltage has to be at a certain level no matter what kind of a heatsink right?

I mean you can have a custom water cooled system, but if you ant 5ghz, you gotta be at say 1.5, but if you have top end air cooling, you still have to use the same voltage. it's just that your temps might be lower.

so in the end, it's not about the volts, but about how hot it gets under load.

if your CPU never passes say 75 on load, it doesn't matter if you use 1.5 or 1.55... it's not getting hot enough to hurt it.

am I right or wrong?

As you increase the voltage you're using past a certain point the life of the CPU decreases almost exponentially. You could run 1.55v and have a resilient CPU that lasts you a long time but you could also have one that dies in 6 months. It all depends on how resilient your CPU happens to be. Personally, 1.42v is the max voltage I would use on Sandy Bridge. It's up to you to decide what voltage you're comfortable with.

you're right I didn't see the ram was included, i just saw deluxe + CPU. Nice choice on h80 though, I have really enjoyed my h50 and h100. Even I it isn't just the cooling, I like the lack of obstruction on the mobo and look. Nicest heat sink installs(newer brackets) I have dealt with thus far too.
