What do YOU do after assembling a new build? - Page 5

With my sig rig I:
1: Whent thought the BIOS and dubble checked EVERY setting on EVERY page.
No OC attempt's done yet.
2:Install OS(win7), Get drivers (from interwebs, CD's are useless.) and Anti Virus up and running and leave it to install latest service pack/updates.

3:Stress tested the daylights outta it! Memtest,Prime95,IBT.
(makes more sence to stress test on stock clocks befor an OC, that way you know befor you start to OC if you have an RMA comming your way)

4:Install games and slowly work on OC's and enjoy:)

This worked great on my sig rig. It was my first build from all new shiny parts from the store:) I have had flawless performance from everything BUT Windows Media Player(stupid program needs to go die..I did 3 clean installs still the same issue with WMP..).Hope this helps:)

First I hook everything up out of the case-confirm all hardware functions.Once running I install OS and drivers-update mainboard drivers and bios if needed. Then I plan the case install and cooling fan set-up,planning cable routes etc. Then everything gets put in the case and wiring finished. Then OC the heck out of it.

If it posts properly, i enter the bios, set everything right (and DVD as first boot device), install windows, install drivers (from website), install windows updates, basic programs, then games, then other programs.

Always install the OS before overclocking. Make a thumb drive with all the most up-to-date drivers on it before you start the install, that way you don't even have to bother with the CD. After that I make sure everything is up to date and then I run my Ninite that installs malwarebytes, search and destroy, MSE, and a few other things like winrar, VLC, and Winamp.
