No, don't be naive.

Here, what Epic said about this subject back in 2008:

Quote:
"I think people would rather make a game that sells 4.5 million copies than a million and Gears is at 4.5 million right now on the 360," he told MTV Multiplayer.

"I think the PC is just in disarray... What's driving the PC right now is Sims-type games and WOW and a lot of stuff that's in a web-based interface. You just click on it and play it. That's the direction PC is evolving into."

So with PC gaming all messed up, what's a development studio to do but stick with good old consoles?

"For me, the PC is kind of the secondary part of what we're doing," confirmed Bleszinski. "It's important for us, but right now making AAA games on consoles is where we're at."

Source

Sooooo, what has changed in this scenario ? Simple: current generation consoles are on their way out, they are selling less, even Sony had to lower the price of the PS3 today; many people are already waiting for the next generation consoles and are not going to invest in a current one.

Unfortunately, the PC serves the purpose in the meantime, while also enabling them to develop the next generation games they will also be releasing on the new consoles.

It's just the way the market is. I just wish they said it, but of course they won't.

PC gaming never died, you just stopped calling.

Gears 3 is wrapped up and they realize they blew all their other IP's(no cash cows). time to throw several PC games at the wall and see what sticks(before whining about piracy and making it Xbox exclusive).

To be fair, this time round it is Epic's President admitting the focus back on PC Gaming unlike before.

Yes, but the reasons are those I mentioned. An independent journalist would ask that question. I would like to know how he would answer.

I think this is going to be the norm going out:

When consoles are released everyone will jump on them until they die out, then they'll fall back on PC's until newer consoles come out, and we'll see it all over again.

Consoles come and go, but the PC is here to stay.

Ouch, that misspelling really killed it huh?

It's just like cheating on your husband/wife. It follows the 80/20 rule. You cheat on the one that has 80% of what you want/need with the one that has 20%. PC gaming will always be the 20%. We have all the power and customization available (20%) but what we lack is the population to drive major sales figures (80%).

That is actually a better way to say what I said. It's true, the PC is here to stay.
