I encountered your problem when I was testing 12 GB of RAM on my sig rig. My Trident 6GB CL6 settings were not working anymore as 12GB were putting more stress on the IMC. Happy you solved it

Well the thing is, I always left memory timings on Auto when I overclocked.. really the only thing I change for overclocking is CPU voltage and multiplier! The 2500k is way too easy to overclock haha

EDIT: To answer some of you, they are the exact same model number, but their serial numbers are WAY different (112xxxxxxxxx on the old set compared to 113xxxxxxxxx)

I wonder if you can push the CPU at the same overclock level you had it with your first RAM config. In some cases overclocking ability can be impaired by doubling the RAM. I hope yours is not the case

P.S: Nothing checks for stability better than one bigadv unit in Folding @ Home I found this to be the case for my rig. I passed Prime, LinX, IBT, yadda yadda, and it crashed in folding. Now that I am rock solid in folding, did the CC non stop, no stability program can make my 4.2 GHz o/c crash Heck I am using an OLD Rampage BIOS to make sure I don't wreck my overclock

Well I just overclocked it to 4.5GHz again @ 1.37V and I'm running P95.. so far it's been stable.

Okay, here's the weird part.. the only way I could get it to boot is if I had my DIMMs lined up like this:

#1 - New - PC3-12800H
#2 - New - PC3-12800H
#3 - Old - PC3-12800
#4 - Old - PC3-12800

That's what CPU-Z identifies them as..

under spd?
the two separate kits might be using different memory IC... gskill 1600MHz ram cas9 are usually PSC or hynx. it's probably nothing though.. cpuz can be weird especially with newer hardware

The first two slots (new memory) are running at 7-8-9-9.. the last two slots (old memory) are running at 9-10-11-9
