[FDN] Apple ups iPhone orders for second half of 2011 - Page 2

Watch them use cortex A8 chips again.

As a 4 yr iPhone owner, I hate it more than anything in the world, and cannot wait to switch to Samsung Galaxy S2.

Winner of this Faceoff? Galaxy S2.
http://www.smartphoneenvy.com/featur...g-galaxy-s-ii/

Better 4.3" Super AMOLED display, better Dual Core processing power, better camera ( 8 MP, and captures 1080P ) Voice activated commands, notes and GPS. Plus Android gives you more freedom over the locked down IOS.
Why do the colors on the S2 look so saturated and un-natural?

You're also comparing a phone that's been out for a year to one that just released? Of course it will have newer hardware.

I'll weigh my options again once my contract is up at ATT. There's nothing out right now that could get me to drop $$$ when my iPhone 4 does everything I need, and does it well.

I only made that comparison because you said.

I just showed you its biggest competitor is the GS2 as of right now.

Nexus Prime will battle it out with the Iphone 5.

I'm sorry, but I can't stand the look of any Android device, nor the 3GS or prior.

The almost rectangular look of the iPhone 4 is the greatest thing to me.

My girlfriend has a Galaxy S, and I just can't stand how it look.. all rounded and metallic on one side, and flat on the other.

I also prefer the IPS to the AMOLED, but that's just me.

Believe it or not, if they change the appearance of the iPhone 4S to that of the iPhone 3GS, I'm sticking with my iPhone 4.

Funny since I thin the exact opposite of you. I like the metallic look of the iphone, but its too rectangular and thick for its size. Although I dont like the plastic back of the Samsung Galaxy S, I do prefer the look of it. Plenty of people at the college i went to had iphones and with rubber cases, the iphone looked like it was one inch thick. Its funny that some of my friends said they like the iphone since it looked sleek.

Some rumors said that the iphone 5/4S/whatever may even have rounder edges, so I would love to try the new iphone if thats the case.

What iPhone do you have? and why would they use anything but the dual core chip they designed, that is already in millions of devices?

They bought a chip design company and GFX company, designed a new chip and put it into the iPad 2.

Even though its has a bigger die (and hugely superior gfx) than the tegra2, it probably doesn't cost them much more to use it because they are making so many of them.

My HTC Desire HD does everything I need and more, despite it being old-hat with a 1GHz Snapdragon. Why? Mods greatly increase longevity of Android devices, just like mods lengthen the lifespan of video games.

Tegra 2 was produced over a year ago, so it is expected to have slightly inferior capabilities compared to the much newer A5. It just got released into devices recently as they support multicore chips.

You're right, I think that we get into diminishing returns pretty darn quickly these days with phone hardware, especially if you don't care about gaming on one.

Loading a webpage 0.7 seconds faster is not worth me dropping $200-$300 dollars on. That money is much better spent elsewhere.

Hell, even the lowly HTC G1 is still in the hands of many thanks to performance optimizations like CyanogenMod.

Well, I'm planning to go quad-core someday which IMO would be a massive jump over the one I have today. Pretty interested at the capabilities of future handsets as their hardware specs catch up to those of dedicated handhelds and consoles, which frankly advance at a rapid pace. The Nvidia Tegra 3 demos are very convincing enough for me to take the plunge.

Just came over to iphone after being an android user since day 1. I am trying the "other side" So far its pretty good. they do have handful of more games but other then that they got all the important apps on both platforms. Also EVERYTHING pretty much costs.
