Build Gaming PC for Friend

Hey one and all!

Recently had a mate ask me to build him a gaming computer, with a budget of $2500. Before you all get too excited, he said he wanted a setup almost identical to mine, so automatically a huge chunk ($1025) is taken up by the screens, mouse and keyboard. He also wanted a case the same as mine, so in regards to that it can't really be changed.

So, with a budget of about 1500 for the PC, this is what I have come up with:

Case: Lian Li Lancool Dark Armor PC-K62 @ $139.00
PSU: Corsair HX-750 Power Supply @ $189.00
Mobo: ASRock Z68 Extreme3 Gen3 @ $165.00
CPU: Intel Core i5 2500k @ $219.00
Cooler: CoolerMaster Hyper 212+ CPU Cooler @ $33.00
RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws X F3-12800CL9D-8GBXL (2x4GB) DDR3 @ $69.00
GPU: Gainward GeForce GTX 570 1280MB Goes Like Hell Edition @ $379.00
HDD: Samsung SpinPoint F3 1TB HD103SJ @ $69.00
ODD: LG CH10LS20 10X Blu-ray DVD Combo Drive @ $65.00
OS: Windows 7 64-bit with SP1 OEM @ $105.00

Total: 1432.00 + 41.00 shipping

I chose to go with a pre-overclocked card as he is not tech savvy and probably won't want to mess with overclocking. Did decide to get the 2500k anyway though because it's like ten dollars more. He's also very heavily into movies, so that's why I've thrown the Blu-ray drive in there. Went with a HX-750 for potential future SLI if he becomes dissatisfied with his performance (which I doubt). Although new (at least over here) and not knowing a lot about the ASRock board, I thought it would be a good option as I have friends with ASRock boards who like them and it has PCI-E 3.0 for slight 'future proofing'.

What do you all think? Have I chosen well? Any other suggestions? Oh yeah, this is in Australia, and all parts are being ordered from www.pccasegear.com

Cheers!

EDIT: He will also be gaming on a single screen, just wants dual screens for everyday use.

Have you decided to buy him the same monitors you have ? If you are spending $1025 on screens gettings anything but a 30 inch dell would be a sin.

Otherwise your build looks good.

Yes, I will be buying him the same monitors I have ($469 each less a 15% discount, so both of them cost about $800 together). The remaining $200 odd is keyboard and mouse. I agree with you, but he argues that he doesn't need a big screen, as he already has a HD TV. I think (like me) he likes the idea of Alienware peripherals. Pity they aren't IPS though.

And cheers!
