New GPU

Hey guys this is continuing on from my GPU thread

Anyway when I bought my 6850 it was €169. If the website agree and let me exchange it for a 6870 (if I am real lucky )

I am just wondering will it run OK on my system? I have a 550W super flower amazon (80+ bronze certified) with a NZXT hades case. I am just wondering will the super flower PSU have enough juice to power the card? Also will the card fit in my case?

I was just looking at the back of the case box and it says that it supports cards up to the size of a 5970. The 5970 is a beast of a card so I would imagine that the 6870 would fit ok in my case?
Thanks

Never heard of Super Flower Amazon - 550W is enough to handle a 6870, just don't know if your PSU is a decent enough quality one to be able to output 550W (though a 400W would be enough as well)

A 6870 is significantly shorter than a 5970, so yes it will easily fit into your case.

Thanks for that

I should have mentioned that I am getting this card. Its factory overclocked so will it still run on a 550w?

Also you can read a review of the super flower amazon 650W version here http://www.anandtech.com/print/2643 (no 550W reviews around but its basically the same PSU)

I don't think 400W would be enough. According to this HD 6870 needs around 500W. It might work this way or maybe not but if your PSU is giving you 550W then you'll be on the safe side.
