Interesting thing I have noticed when buying used games

Have you noticed FPS games have significantly more scratches on the back of the disc than RPG's and all other games? I used to buy used games from GameStop up until a couple of weeks ago, until I realized that I shouldn't be giving my money to such a mediocre company. But that isn't the point.

Does this mean that FPS players are more aggressive, or do they just like to damage their discs? I bought Black Ops used for the Xbox 360 2 months after it was released and the disc was so scratched I thought it had been in a blender. I was shocked it actually worked. And now that I think of it, most of the time discs are scratched when I buy a used FPS game.

However, with RPG's, it is an entirely different story. I have multiple RPG's for the Xbox 360 which I bought used and they all have little to no scratches. My copy of FFXIII looks practically brand new, and Lost odyssey looked mint as well. I have also experienced this over the years with other consoles, like the Xbox and the PS2.

I have owned some games for a very long time, and they still have almost no scratches. I still have Diablo 2 which is over 10 years old, and it barely has any scratches even though I have played it a lot. Same with Warcraft 3.

So why do you guys think this is?

Edit: This pretty much only applies for the United States. I have bought games all over Europe and even when I buy used games they are always in excellent condition. Do Americans have a custom where they damage their discs or something that I don't know about? o_O

Its hard to say this how i am thinking it right now, but i think its the personality of a "general" fps player, the type who wouldnt touch an RTS or RPG with a 30ft pole. They just seem to care less about their possesions, this is not to say the guys who play everything cant be liek that, i just notice it more often in some of my buddies.

I notice it with mainly my console gaming friends (cause no one else i know is into PC gaming like me ), the ones who like Forza/GT/RPG's/FPS or just RPG's and racing games tend to take care of their disks. While the 2 guys i know who play ONLY fps's tend to leave the games out of the cases and stacked all over/on the floor just laying around etc. i wouldnt say its an "Aggression" problem per Se. Cant really say about used PC titles as it hasnt really been a viable thing since the late 90's...

Yah, I think it's called kids that don't give a crap about their stuff...
I have always kept my games in excellent condition. When I finish with 1 game (that im unlikely to play again) I use to give them to my nephews, who would render them un-playable inside of 2 months. They would never put them in their cases, and the games would just get scratched up, so I quit giving my used games to them and started re-selling them on amazon.

Let me tell you about my cousin. He is not really a gamer but when he comes over he usually grabs my copy of Call of Duty for ps3 or xbox. He only knows it because of the hype"Call of Duty." Either that or Forza.

Usually he knows better than to leave my games out of the cases but regardless it happens every time he is here. I rage when I find my 60$ game disk out of the box on the coffee table or in the wrong case staked on top of another disk.

He's not a kid either. He's older than me but was never into gaming because his parents never bought him game systems. The most he had was some cheap pre-built HP comp that they would play demo's on. He is getting better though...

I wouldn't call it "aggression" but rather "stupidity" or "carelessness." Either they just don't care or are to stupid to realise that your disk comes with a case for a reason.
