BF3 is DX11 from the beginning. See how quiet it is about that?
Crysis 2 wasn't DX11 from the beginning, and much noise was made.

The difference is DICE made their game for PC first and will outsell Crytek's console first approach. If C2 was PC first, it would have made even more money. They reduced their own paying customer base. I use the BlackFireMod and it's way better than Crytek's update, but their update was important in making the Mod possible. Also, after the update, the hardware still isn't maxed out. Just because people talk trash on the forums, doesn't mean they didn't care to download it. They did.

lol The development of this game was just backwards from the beginning.
It just doesn't make sense to have unseen water over the park area.

I still play C2 from time to time, but Warhead will always be my favorite in the series.

Well I doubt Crytek did this JUST to overstress people's rigs. If they where mad at the community then it makes more sense to just not release the patch. Making an "underground ocean" just to spite enthusiasts and PC gamers is a waste of money. This was either:

a) Malicious (quid pro quo for the money they received from Nvidia)
b) Sloppy (not much money and time + game wasn't based around DX 11 from the start)

Article concludes a). Personally I think it was more b), but Crysis 2 would not be the first TWIMTBP game that has sucked on ATI/AMD so it does make you wonder.

Honestly this doesn't bother me in the slightest bit. The game runs fine for me, maxed @ 1080p, full dx11 and high res textures. Runs perfectly fine. and looks great doing it too. All this complaining is just going to make developers think that the PC community will never really be happy. You want full DX11? You got DX11 (and an optimized version at that. Not like metro 2033's horrible tess performance) and here you are, complaining about it. They gave you your cake AND they let you eat it. and you're going to complain?

The point is that you could have considerably better performance with no reduction in visual quality, or better visual quality with no reduction in performance, if some very simple and logical things were done. Not putting water under all the land in a map, and having an LOD system for tessellation should not be difficult to to.

Waste and sloppiness is bad, even if the end result is tolerable.
