If it's anything similar to what I'm used to, the water is probably at a certain level in every map but the ground layer will cover it in a map that... doesn't have water. So the water is there... but unseen. Idk though.

Who cares if it was a vocal minority? It's nice they got something good done.

I haven't played the game and probably never will.. I doubt my xfire 6870's could play the game at the highest settings very well, which is something I'd like to be able to do since it looks amazing in dx11.

Crytek gave us a beautiful game that challenges hardware. While I would prefer a better optimized game in the end I don't think it really matters.

well up crysis 1 had lots of water underneath the map too...
ever used noclip in devmode? go under the map, and you will find water under the map!

idk if its the engine that does that, or what but i thought crytek would have fixed this in C2! btw i want devmode back in C2

Crysis 1- Horrible optimization, mediocore gameplay (sandbox/mods/open world gameplay made that "mediocore" pretty dam good a times), best visuals out of any video game ever

Crysis 2- Console port, Multiplayer first, killstreaks, perks, map pack DLCs, delays of PC features, FINALLY releases DX11 features, overdone, bloated terribly optimized. Graphics not improved by much.

Seriously, you're in the middle of the park, there is a small amount of water at the end of the map, so the entire map is being rendered as if it is covered with water?

my question is if these unseen meshes and polys are only there or are more prevalent with a radeon card. Would nvidia get crytek to tone it down for their cards?

Crysis 1 also rendered the water everywhere, you can see that in mesh mode on the editor, it's how the engine works don't ask me why. I remember a post about that on crymod long time ago.

Yeah this seems to be a issue with CryEngine itself.

So what I have determined is that when Crytek added tess they just added it to all water... seen or unseen. Maybe it is something that was unavoidable given time and budget.

Anyway, I don't think this is about AMD and NVIDIA as much as it is about Crytek not doing any tess optimization. It just so happens that this hurts AMD performance much more than it hurts NVIDIA performance.
