What a joke, rather just play dx9 with high res pack. Don't think I need my GPU using all it's power on rendering water that is not even visible by the user.

How is Crytek a victim when their developers choose to apply tessellation on mundane objects? How did they not notice that water geometry was always being calculated? Running a performance benchmark during QA would have noticed the impact on low tessellation areas.

EA wanted the game, not the DX11 patch. Crytek could have spent a little longer working on it, but instead they chose to work more on water you can't see than the trees and rocks and ground that you can see. :/

I miss the John Carmack days when you would actually have a team aiming at good coding and not throw everything at it hoping for the best. This complacency amongst developers coupled with poor driver support from GPU makers has lead to what we have today: 'the more jiggawatts instead of optimised drivers/games approach'.

Is there to keep DX11 but turn off tessellation? I hate the fact just like Metro that Crysis 2 lowest setting vs highest settings is only 40-50% better. In Crysis 1 its was like 400-500% better.

Wow, it looks like tessellation "support" was thrown together with glue and paste. Rendering water tessellation in frames where there is no immediate water in the area? Genius! Rendering a bajillion extra polygons that don't have any apparent visual impact over the lower polygon count version? Awesome!

Not to say that there aren't obvious visual impacts at times, the visual gains don't justify the apparent performance hit. Then again, I'm saying this having never played the game, so I probably sound a little hypocritical.

Yeah but i dont want to go disable tessellation in CCC each time i want to play Crysis. In reality DX9 vs DX11 from what i have seen not much difference.

Not really. Though it looks good unlike in Crysis 1 its very easy to find part of the game which graphics lack. Also everything is glued together and u cant destroy anything which in Crysis 1 was my favourite thing. Personally i want Nanosuit 2 in Crysis 1 and i would call that win.
