Not sexist, just practical. I'd love to buy my GF a new computer too but to be honest she wouldn't notice the difference between my core 2 duo with a x1950 and a i7 with a 580. Minecraft isn't all that demanding after all.

If you still think she NEEDS the power, then yead a 560ti is a great card in terms of price/performance ratio. They also run fairly cool and aren't huge, which at least for me was nice when I replaced a dead 280 with one.
Read. OP said it will mainly be used for BF3.

On topic, I'd go with a 6950.

It switches between Performance mode and Silent mode.
Performance mode has higher fan speed under load for better cooling (and more noise, obviously) while Silent mode has lower fan speed to emphasize the acoustics.

I would suggest using the Performance mode. It makes higher fan speed available. You can then use Afterburner to setup a fan profile. If it is set at Silent mode, the max fan speed available will be lowered.

But got time to tell others to.

Entering a discussion without any idea of the state of the discussion is foolish whether you are ignorant of the beginning of the discussion (not reading the OP) or the current state of the discussion (not knowing he already bought a card). A very easy out here would just be to say "whoops sorry" or say nothing.

Just a little heads up, MSI GTX 560 Twin Frozr II is a great choice, very overclockable if you can do it for her. got my core from 880 to 1000, shaders from 1760 to 2000, and memory from 2000 to 2300, couldv done better on the memory part of things, paired with a good quad or hexa core, i7 930, 2600k, 2500k, or i5 750, makes a blazin rig, i get 60 fps + in everything on full, even crysis!... well not warhead not only that but its around 250 aud. load temps are 52 degrees max in majority of rigs, unless hers is a ****box, but saying you want a gpu of this family means it probably wouldnt be. idles at around 30 (varies, obviously) Great cooling, Great overclocking, Great stock & overclock performance, great price... Nvidia, the way its meant to be played
