Both are great for overclocking, but... Asus definitly has th uper hand in overclocking, but asrock is pci-e 3.0 compatible. So if you buy the asrock, when IB hits u can swap the cpu and buy a pci-e 3.0 compatible card in the futur and have nothing to worry about.

Also asrock has Fatal1ty face in the bios >_>.

What is PCI-E 3.0?
And what is IB?

There is a way to get rid of that face.

Thanks for your reply =)

the asrock is much cheaper, at least here (almost 100€ difference). the m4e p67 is a better deal from asus side, imo.

PCI-E 3.0 is the next generation PCI-E interface (similar to USB 3.0) and "IB" stands for Ivy Bridge which will be the next generation of processors which can take advantage of said interface. Right now the vast majority of GPU's run off PCI-E 2.0...PCI-E 3.0 will be faster/more efficient when it comes out and Ivy Bridge processors will be the ones that allow you to take advantage of the new speeds. You can find boards with PCI-E 3.0 slots on them right now but until we get the new processors and GPU's that will run in tandem then we're stuck with PCI-E 2.0

Is it worth considering though? As is even pci-e at x8 barely looses any performance against x16. What is raising the ceiling of something we already can't touch going to add?

I'm honestly asking.

Only for future gen cards, especially dual ones which runs at 8+8x on a single 16x slot.
If you are a person that changes mainboard every year or more often, then it doesnt matter.

ROG board FTW! I love my RE3, different chipset, but ASUS's products are top notch, albeit on the pricey side. I personally stay away from any of the Fatal1ty gear, majority of the products with John Wendel's endorsement is pretty much junk. Ya, I'm a fanboy, but its with quality products! lol. The only advantage that ASRock has is the PCI 3.0, but lets be honest, by the time products come out with that available tech, you will most likely be looking to upgrade everything anyways. If you are really worried about having a board with PCI 3.0 anyways, I'd say wait for a different brand of board to buy that has it (ASUS, Gigabyte, MSI). It's a possibility that one will be out by Christmas time anyways, or around the Ivy Bridge launch time.

Go with the Fatal1ty Z68. The ROG Maximus is junk, not really because it's a bad board or anything but the fact that it's horribly overpriced for what you get and it's typical shoddy Asus quality.

ASRock used to be a part of Asus. It was during this time they acquired their "bad rap". Once they split off a few years back, they made it a point to focus on quality and price, and since then everything they've put out has been top notch. I have the Fatal1ty Z68 and coming from a P8P67 I can say it's the best board I've ever had. Period.
