Well, I don't have any direct experience with SSD's as of yet. (Give me a few more days on that one)

However, this series is recommended quite often here, so I think it will work quite well for you here. (I'm getting the 64GB)

whatever you do.. DO NOT GET THE OCZ VERTEX 3!! no matter how great the speed looks. stable is far better than speed. I have the 126GB Crucial C300. Runs flawlessly and fast as hell compared to my old HDD

LOL of course someone would have it running smoothly. must have had one from a good batch. i got 3 bad ones that all died within a week Just giving my opinion though. both have speeds that are fantastic. but i do recommend reading the reviews and making a careful choice*cough* *C300* *cough*

OCZ currently boasts some of the best speeds for the price. However, Intel and Crucial are offering the best SSD's at the moment because they are far and away the most reliable drives. Once you get into the SATAIII SSD realm, there is little noticeable speed difference, which makes reliability the top concern in my opinion (especially when we're talking about the component storing all your data).

Basically, go Intel or Crucial in my opinion. The Crucial M4 series is what I'd recommend simply because its price is better.

yeah I have heard a lot of bad things about the vertex 3.

the c300 and m4 are good drives.

I am tempted to pick up a 64gb m4 for £75

Yeah, that sucks, most problems i read about, were dodgy earlier firmware updates and from people updating firmware, with OS already installed on the drive and having problems afterward,(not resetting cmos and the like).

But to pay £40 more to have 10k more IOP's,would you notice that in the real world?

I'm using a Corsair Performance 3 128gb drive and haven't had any problems. Then again, I've only had it for a couple days...

Just make sure to back up your data, regardless of which drive you buy.

In terms of speed though, this thing is a beast.

Corsair P3-128 runs about ~$200, pretty standard for a SATA III 128GB drive right now.
