And

http://gamedude.com.au/prod_show.php...C25vertex3_120

hey guys, thank you for your reply, awesome feedback, with regards to the 2 above V3 SSD's they are the same or what, same size but difference in price yet have same speeds..

after hearing about the V3 issue i am leaning towards the M4 Crucial. (good weapon system to) haha, once again thank you for your help.

Regards,

Chrisso

Also.... for mass storage, i am looking at Hitachi Sata 3 2tb 32m 85 AUD... are they ok for what i need ?

The Vertex is a faster drive than the agility/solid IIRC. I think it has faster random read/write speeds while the sequential speeds are the same as the agility/solid. The random read/write is the most important for an OS drive, so the vertex is usually a good upgrade if choosing between those two.

I still recommend the Crucial M4, however, as reliability is my biggest concern with SSD's.

For mass storage, a lot of people recommend the Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB drive (myself included). It is as fast or faster than a WD Caviar Black and a very reliable drive. I've heard the Hitachi's aren't as reliable, but I could be wrong.

while everyone says get the samsung f3 I find the WD black a much better choice as WDs warranty and support is excellent. I use the advanced ship method for my WD green rma and they sent the new drive within 2 days and then I could transfer my data and send faulty drive back.

I was first getting a Vertex 3 but then I read all the bad things about it and decided to get a Intel 510 120GB and it's great (this coming from a guy who has owned only HDDs in the past). Having problems with OS drive would be the worst thing that I could imagine

you have to look past older reviews, look at reviews based on the latest firmware. and for performance try to focus on the IOPS

I had an Agility II in my rig and wow was that a mistake. OCZ CS was great and very helpfull, but the first one I got was quick as snot for about 4 days...then it started..... WIE went from like 7.1 to 4.0 in about an hour. took it back the replacement was DOA....took it back got a 3rd! E-mailed OCZ CS for assistance on "proper" set up according to them, followed their advice to the letter and it took a steaming crap all over istelf in less than 18hr's.... with a clean install of windows with each SSD install I got sick of it and moved on.

I'm tempeted to try a different SSD in my upcoming SB build, but am very paranoid about it after my last experiance. But I will say IT WAS FAST! less than 30 seconds from a cold boot to serfing the interwebs. Programs where snappy, even the ones on my 1tb drive seems to move faster lulz. If I where to go SSD with this rig, the C300 would be my weapon of choice!
