[IGN] Gamescom: Modern Warfare 3 to Have Dedicated Servers on PC

Quote:
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 did not have dedicated servers on PC, which caused some controversy a couple years ago. Generally, dedicated servers provide a smoother online experience and allow more players to join a match. Today at Gamescom Activision confirmed that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will have dedicated servers for the PC version. This is part of an effort to show PC gamers that Activision is serious about the platform.

One concern Activision has with the PC version, though, is the fact that it is an open platform and cheating will be easier than it will be on the consoles.

With so much competition and rewards to be won, PC cheaters are a definite concern for Activision. Representatives said it is actively working on solutions and won't ship Modern Warfare 3 without being able to ensure a fair fight for players.

Maybe it won't be utterly terrible after all? I mean there can be mods now.

Whatever, *yawn*.

And they've won me over with that, yep..

Instead of focusing on cheating, they should price their game lower because £45 is a bit much for a PC game compared to most other games which are ~25-30.. (All recent Acitvision games have been about that much o.O)

They're just trying to get some hype at this point, but BF3 has it all.

Yay, finally.

But seriously, who cares. Would be interested more if it had a new engine and used DX11, like BF3. Instead they had to reuse the same old engine with same graphics.

Graphics is not what COD is lacking (well it is but there are other things like), the gameplay is really unbalanced and well at this, the entire production of the game is not to make a fun game, it's to try and just completely hype up the loyal fanbase and rape their wallets.

I prefer the vastness, different game modes, destructive environment, graphics, and vechiles that BF3 offers....

However, as a "FPS" the CoD series feels more realistic to me... what I mean is actually shooting someone kills them, where as in BF2 / BF BC2 its a tad more tempermental.

Maybe its because I am a n00b, but I like rushing, knifing and close quarter shooting... As a "Shooting" game the CoD series offers more to me.

As a "lets do anything" type setup Battlefield will always win.

If they are bringing back dedi servers then great...as CoD 4 is getting a bit aged and it was the last great CoD on the PC :-)

I will however be buying both games

Just my 2c...
