[Twitter/Gamescom] 3D spotting is now vehicle only - Page 3

So, I get the idea of 3D spotting. What would 2D spotting be? Just a quick marker that doesn't follow someone?

Wow, Im amazed they listened. We had a huge thread in the BF3 alpha forums asking to remove 3D spotting. It just didn't work people just shoot at the orange arrow its pretty unfair imo. Thats why honestly I only play on Hardcore servers on BC2.

I can't believe the amount of whinging and breaching the NDA that happened over the 3D spotting and they went ahead and changed it. That's seriously lame.

Being able to "spot" and track someone's movements accurately in real time when they are hiding behind a wall is lame.

If someone else has line of sight, they should be the ones who can track them....you know...since they can actually see them.

If they spot them, they should only be able to relay their rough position to those who do not have line of sight.

Not literally give the equivalent of shooting a millimeter accurate gps bug at them that sticks to them and relays every movement they make to everyone else on your team.

If I run out into the open, get spotted and am fired upon, by the time I get behind cover of considerable size, my position, direction of movement or anything else, should not be free info for the enemy.

If you want to know which way I went after I got into cover, you should have to scout the surrounding area with your EYES and watch for movement.

If you want to know if I'm gonna attempt to pop up from behind that cover, you should have to use your EYES and BRAIN to scout where you think I may come up from.

Not literally sit there and watch as the triangle above my head slowly inches out from cover so you know EXACTLY when to shoot.

Nor should you know where I went after I went into cover by having a triangle basically give you a "he went that-a-way" heads up.

This is not a stealth game. Being spotted should not be given such a "punishment" in such a sense, nor should simply spotting someone out of cover be rewarded with a free 3D motion sensor type ability for everyone on your team for that target.

Hopefully now, the game will rely more upon your eyes, brainpower and skill to engage enemies, as opposed to giving you a "shoot here" icon on your 3D hud.

That's ok, it'll be fun.

I've got many many kills using the spotting 3D, it's pretty simple and indeed gives an unfair advantag, but you won't hear me complaining because I'm pretty good at it.

in BFBC2 mose times I get killed is indeed due to the red triangle, and it can be frustrated, but I learnt to stand still when I think I'm spotted (and behind cover), count, and move out, that way the triangle is gone and the enemy doesn't know what direction I went it.

I don't know all the fuss about it, if you're a good player (or you suck up the frustration and learn to be a good player) then you won't have any problems with it and you'll be able to use it to your advantage.

Same as with all those kids on BFBC 2 complaining 'omg cg noob', 'omg sniper noob', omg lmg noob'. At a given point I was thinking, what weapon do I need to use then? I went pistol and knife only and got like 45-15.

about CG, it's damn easy to dodge, they're slow moving, unlike assault rifles whose bullets aren't.

If you're behind a wall and you got blown by cg because you didn't see the cg rocket coming, your fault, you should have scouted better and learnt to not stand against the wall (if you don't, you'll never get killed directly, ever) instead of complaining about how noob it is because you got killed.

Sometimes it's annoying that they are actually just admitting how lousy they are in the game.

In the beginning I got killed by spotting and cg and the likes ALOT myself, but I learnt from it and now I have no problem with me, because quite frankly CGers (eg) are the easiest players to kill, wanna know why? Well, I learnt that most CGers (about all of them) decide to keep aiming down the sights after they shot, because of their rocket tail I can accurately track their location and take them out. Easy as hell now for me.

If you're complaining because he suicided himself into cging you, who cares? I'd be flattered that he had to suicide to take you out, not *****y.

/rant

but on topic, It's a nice change indeed the 2D spotting, itll give me something else to adjust to and learn in the game. I like it playing online as a fresh player and getting pwned all the time because a bit later I'll be able to learn and be the one pwning.
