[Twitter/Gamescom] 3D spotting is now vehicle only - Page 5

They just fixed the glaring bug that allowed you to spot people you couldn't see, which is just pure common sense.

Basically, everyone complaining about 3D spotting had ZERO credit because they were complaining about a BUG and demanding they remove the whole feature (which as I repeatedly said, wasn't going to happen) Instead of recognising it as a bug and getting on with the rest of their lives. People were moaning and complaining and threatening to cancel preorders based on an obvious bug that was obviously going to be fixed up.

So, really, 3D spotting whingebags got NOTHING they asked for. Quite rightly so, too.
I think you need to read that quote again. It's not about being able to spot someone without having a line of sight (that is clearly a bug and should not be allowed either). It's about actually seeing the triangle above a player someone else sighted. If you don't also have a clear line of sight, you won't get the triangle. So yes, it is modified. If you are hiding in a bush you will not see any triangles since you have no line of sight to anyone. If you are in the open but an enemy player goes behind a wall you won't be able to see the floating triangle since you no longer have a line of sight.

*Gets PM from Viridian*

*takes Viridian off ignore to see if things have cooled down*

*Is immediately disappointed*

This system is nothing like BC2s.

BC2 does not have line of sight dependancy. Someone who was spotted by a team mate in BC2 will be shown even if you cant see them. When an enemy goes behind cover in BC2, you can still track their movements.

In BF3, as the source states, the 3D spotting will disappear (or not appear at all) once the target is no longer in view of the player.

This is not the "wallhack" 3D spotting that the campaigners were campaigning about since the release of BC2, that exists in BC2.

So once again, you show your complete lack of understanding regarding the context of the discussion as you still cannot tell the difference between:

-line of sight dependant spotting where if you dont have the person in your view, you dont get a spot triangle, even if another team mate spotted them.

and

-BC2 style spotting, where even if the person spotted by a team mate is behind a wall, you can still see their spot triangle moving around.

There has been a change to the BC2 spotting system you defended as being perfectly fine and even now, you still cannot understand that there has been a change and still think BF3 will have BC2 style spotting where you can track movements behind walls in 3D.

People asked for changes. If you even bother to search for the thread where I decided to put you on ignore, my last words were about these exact changes. Changes that you thought/think already exist in BC2.

Changes were made. BF3 spotting does not "work like BC2".

This is another example of you failing horribly, to understand both the discussion and the games, and is ironically the same reason why I put you on ignore the first time.

No point arguing with someone who doesn't even know what they're talking about.

I dont really like to have people on ignore, but your willingness to have a go while I cant even see what your saying, as well as attempting to bait me through PMs.....I dont really want to talk to you anymore.

Don't PM me anymore please.

Oh I see. Yeah that works just as well and as other have said is a nice compromise. That's better than bowing to the insane requests of the Alpha users. Instead, they fixed it and kept it in.

Disagree. As it is I feel having hardcore mode is dumb. Battlefield (difficulty-wise) should only have one way to play like BF2 did. BC2 had the "server option" to disable 3D spotting, and VERY few servers do it. It's a culprit that is beyond annoying.

3d Spotting was totally fine in BF2. It worked well and vanished on LOS fairly often enough~ in BC2 it was buggy (didn't work sometimes) and when it did, sometimes it worked too well (would stay long after the guy lost line of sight~). Getting rid of it isn't as nice of a solution as just tightening the function a bit, but whatever.

Hardcore mode of any game is dumb. It's not how the game was created to be played

3D spotting shouldn't be an admin feature to turn off, imho, still.

You'll be happy to know that they have finally fixed it then

Thread title needs to be updated tbh.
