[Twitter/Gamescom] 3D spotting is now vehicle only - Page 7

I think this is OK if there is a story behind it...like call it GPS taging or something. Or is that getting a little too BF2142?

Though...

If I am just a soldier using today's technology without a HUD or technology...yeah, this probably shouldn't be in the game at all.

It was more of a spam q and spray at any marked target. I like how DICE responds to the community; we've been wanting this gone for awhile.

BC2 had one of the worst audio engines for the year of the A/AAA titles. Any game that likes to mute sound in favour of bass to low-mid sound, while making in house sound like a tunnel, while requiring a entire CPU thread to process such (where an X-Fi chip would handel much better) is horrific. At least BF3 improves on such.

Sums up why so many people rightfully hate 3D spotting:

And yes, it's ridiculous. You CAN in fact spot enemies in a wooded area from across the map without even actually seeing them. I've done it plenty of times. When I know there's some annoying typical troll camping sniper, I just spam Q all along the bottom of the trees until I get the hit.

3D spotting, although handy, was pretty cheap in my opinion and let to some unfair kills just by following an orange triangle behind cover.

I was surprised about the Comma-Rose update which I am also very happy about and I can only really say that DICE deserves all the kudos they get for really making what the PC community wants.
Yes totally agree with this, i remember playing BFBC2 and i would run behind a bunch of bushes , it didn't matter I would get target fired cause of some stupid triangle over my head.

Agreed, I also do the same.
If I was the guy who died in the video I would have raged.

Yeah true, but it's still a good concept, just badly abused.

The new system sounds promising though.

This is a huge improvement over the last system. The last system was literally wall hacks. I would mark targets before shooting. Who wouldn't?

Hopefully they'll fix/remove motion sensors now. A sniper with an assault giving him ammo = stupidly OP, even without ammo it's still OP.
