Replacing current build with new one

I'm selling my current mobo including the gfx card and thinking of getting around 300$ for it.

My mind is set on amd II x4 640 @ 3ghz with this Mother board and HD 6770 with 4gb ddr3 and a decent case with 420W PSU. All of this is costing me around 300-350$. I'm not sure if i should pay some more to get i3 2100 or phenom x4 850 @ 3.4 ghz black edition.

I hate to say this but your motherboard is probably worth $50-60 and your video card is worth about the same. I wouldnt expect to get more than $130 out of both. Unless you have a buyer lined up. If that is the case I feel sorry for them.

Also, there is no PhII x4 840 black edition. That processor is pretty much an athlon because it lacks the L3 cache. I would shoot for a 955 black edition. For gaming I would get this over the 2100 just because eventually more and more games will use 4 cores so you will see more of a benefit in the future.

The i3 and the x4 850 could be marginally better in some apps, but the differences aren't that important and can be overcome by OCing the 640. The fact it's not a BE isn't an impediment to OCing that chip as it has a pretty high stock clock speed and to reach 3.6GHz (which is expected from a K10) you only need 240HTT.

Still, there is something you should change in that build - the moherboard. That Asrock 480x is cheap, but it is old and rubbish (electrolytic caps, very old chipset with SATA issues, limiting performance as it was designed for AM2 - not even AM2+, etc). My advice for the motherboard is this AsRock 870 - nice features, new up to date chipset and it doesn't cost very much.

Off topic: you may want to check out ldlc.ch to do your shopping, the .fr equivalent has more choices.

Problem is not the money, what i meant up there was that my max expenditure would be no more then 350$ as i don't want to spend money on gaming pc so much and parts here are quite cheap because rarely anyone buys them here when in places like US...people are all engineer type and love working on these things...labour is expensive here compared to US so separate parts are easy to get rather then getting a whole built in computer.

My bad, the phenom 840 ain't the black edition. What i wanted to know was that which one would be better since i heard that i3 only has 2 real cores and the other 2 virtual cores don't really do much. So i was just thinking of going towards amd...

also do you guys think that bulldozer would lower the prices of athlon and phenom x4?

EDIT: also i was wondering which card would be better in my case. HD 6770 or GTS 450, both are 1gb ddr5 cards and are of same price.

@dragosmp: ldlc.ch has their store as well in switzerland? because i don't really prefer paying over the internet when you don't even know the person who is sending you the goods without even knowing who that person is...i've been ripped off on ebay lol so yea don't really trust paying over the internet besides amazon.
