Just bought P8Z68-V, what can it do?

Thread Starter
I just recently purchased the Z68 board along with an I5-2500k processor. *cheers!* Based on at least seeing it recommended a lot, I got it over the P67. My question is: What's the difference between them? Was the Z68 worth getting? I only plan to take this chip to around 4.0ghz, I just wanted a board that could be the most efficient while running this processor.

What are some key features of the Z68 that you guys, here at OCN, really really like?

Unless you're going to buy a small SSD to use for caching or have plans to use integrated video, there's no difference.

I would have told you to get P67. Z68 offers all completely useless features. Z68 is a waste of money.

Its not too late for me to take it back. Could you give me a link to the p67 youre referring to? Seems like there are like...100 variations of this board.

Thanks! I got a great deal on mine, so I think I might just save the gas and hang onto it based on the prices Ive seen here so far.

I guess I should have emphasized more on performance - what can this thing do? I mean..like I said, I bought it because it was recommended...but I dont know if I bought a lion or a world-eating, dream-crushing harbinger of pixellated death.

I haven't seen a huge difference between P67 and Z68 prices at the same tiers of mainboards.

If the OP does any video encoding, I think support of Virtu to allow Intel QuickSync technology is worth the minor increase in price.
