how much heat can voltage reg's take?

Thread Starter
I have 2 Radeon HD6950 with unlocked and modded bios for more Vreg.
So now i wanna know how much heat they can take since they use stock cooling and the core uses watercooling so obviously i have room on the core for more power but atm. at 870MHz the Vreg's get around 68c and i dont know if they can take more.
Ofcourse should get them some better cooling. I have some copper heatsinks i might have to use.

i've seen vregs at 80c~ and they were fine but that is seriously pushing the envelope.
i think you wanna shoot for around 60c~ max if you wanna keep your cards for awhile.
atm though 68 isn't too bad but i wouldn't push it any further until you get those sinks on it.

A lot for VRM's are rated for 120C or so.

100C and sometimes even higher... like 120C the poster above me said.

This is true 120C rating. They only pass power through, so they aren't as critical as gpus.

They say GPU's are rated for 100C, but that is not as safe as saying vrm is rated for 100C. gpus have to perform calculations, so you want them as low temp as possible.
