Yep, I hate Razer so much that I have a Razer mousepad and would still be using a Razer mouse if I used claw grip instead of palm grip.
Really, it's not much the brand, but more Razer's laughable gamer marketing that's well known and that going on history and people who've tried both (me included), that 'gaming headsets' are mediocre stuff compared to non-gamer marketed headphones. Those who defend such gaming headsets haven't tried both thus dunno no better and of course, fanboism. I personally don't care about brands. If it's the same brand, then it's mere coincidence. I always judge the product. However if a mass of mediocre products belong to one brand then well, you won't surprisingly have have high expectations for that brand.
Yes, looking at my sig, I have 3 Asus products. Am I fanboi of them? No. I have a Dell monitor and Dell laptop. Am I a fanboi of Dell? No.
I needed a replacement mobo and the Asus one was the cheapest that fit my requirements at the time, the ST was the best soundcard to me, and I got a sweet deal on the GFX card new via an office overstock auction site, same with the Dell laptop. The U2311H is the best all-round IPS panel monitor for my needs and I got that at the same website.
Blind fanboism is just stupid tbh, however human nature of a sense of group belonging, particularly during adolescence, which a significant number of OCNers are in, governs all.
As with anyone, I want the best that my budget can get me that suits my needs for that product the best. Gaming headsets don't suit the needs of the gamer the best at all sound quality nor gaming wise.
Experts on the subject really don't care about brands. They only care for performance for the price. Like you guys on OCN, you guys don't care it's it's Intel or AMD, Nvidia or ATI /AMD, you only care for performance to price ratio, I don't see the 'GFX card elitists' being shouted about here do I?
Why can't the same by applied for sound? One possible reason is that for a lot of people here, sound is neglected in rigs. Massive cooling systems, SLI-ed high end cards, custom case and......onboard sound.Edited by chinesekiwi - 8/24/11 at 11:26pm
