i5 750 190bclk @ stock volts :D / dilemma

Just facing a dilemma here guys and need a few opinnions

After not being with my rig for a few weeks and reading the forums, my ocing fingers got itchy and I thought id have another go to see what I could squeeze out of my i5 750.

Id been running it at 3.8GHz recently, 1.31vcore and with 1.21 vtt - 20x190 BCLK.

So ive been reading the new safe limit for vtt is now 1.4, as revised by intel, but I still dont belive it.

Anyway I begin testing from stock voltages, and to my excitement I didnt actually need to touch the vtt voltage to 190, so it does 190 at 1.1vtt

I used to just set it to 1.21vtt expecting it to need it. Silly me.

So then I begin upping the mulitplier, and it needed 2 bumps and LLC tuned on to sit happily at 3.61GHz, 1.21vcore.

This give a nice stable 51 consistent gflops.

So happy with this, I saved a profile.

Now im wandering if this is a good sign and may be able to push some serious speeds for a 750.

But as good as it seems, it then requires a bump all the way to 1.31vcore to reach 3.8GHz up from 3.6GHz, I havent really tried any higher yet, also more BCLK wants a higher voltage but I havent wanted to exceed the 1.21vtt recommended limit yet.

So could this chip possibly have more juice in it maybe under water? Should I not be afraid to run it at 1.3 odd vtt?

It just doesnt seem worth all the extra voltage when it will sit at 3.6 with nice stock volts.

Any opinnions appriciated.

Edit: ive also been reading that vtt should be within 0.5v of DIMM for some reason, so ive upped it to 1.15vtt because my memory runs at 1.65v, but this didnt seem to help anything with regard to higher oc so ill be putting it back to 1.1vtt- is this ok? its totally stable, so why does it need to be within 0.5v anyway? didnt seem to give any problems

Believe what you want. I've ran thousands of hours 100% load with 1.275 VTT and ran it higher then 1.4v for short periods during benchmarking sessions with an i5 760.

You won't know until you try. How high you can get your baseclock seems to be more important than the voltage if you're looking for HWBOT points.

Worth it or not is up to you and rather or not you can keep it cool.

So what kind of CPU you getting next ?

Running lower then the .5v window can degrade the memory controller. You should be much more worried about this then running over 1.21 VTT

Ok thanks for your reply, I always thought the vtt was the main variable for the 0.5v thing but ive just looked under where you se the memory voltage in my bios and it has a separate QPI voltage which is 1.15v so thats good, never new that, so it obviously has them both separate.

Ok managed to get to 200bclk with still 1.21vtt, only tried 5 runs tho as I assumed it was going to crash. Will see what I get out of it now. Keeping 1.31vcore for 3.8GHz, and ill bring the multi down accordingly. Funny how impatient and lazy ocing prevented me from seeing these results

update: no 4.2 for me even 4GHz needs 1.39v, but if i remember correctly i ran it at 4 GHs ages ago and more vtt let me reduce the vcore. What would you say is easier on the chip - 1.35vcore & 1.35vtt, or 1.39vcore and 1.21vtt?
