Need some final advice, pulling trigger on big purchase soon!!!

Ok as the title says, yeah gonna be pulling the trigger on a really massive upgrade to my system...

Going for nvidia surround with the following set up, BenQ XL2410T Black 23.6 (x3) and MSI N580GTX Lightning Xtreme (x2).

I am pretty much sold on these components, i really want to experience the titles coming out this fall as best as i can, especially Skyrim and BF3.

One thing i am concerned with is; i was reading that with small mobos the cards sit extremely close together and may even bump from the the fans onto the next card. To remedy this i could easily go with a board like the Asus WS revolution if needed since it supports tri SLI. If this wont be a problem with my Sabertooth then, yeah wont be a reason to switch mobos.

I have done my research on these compnents, but OCN always brings things to my attention that i seem to overlook, especially on such a large purchase, pretty much these comonents together cost about as much as my sig rig put together...so yeah a bit wary.

those cards wont be a problem with the sabertooth, you'll have a full slot between the cards.

I plan on doing the same. I have those exact cards in sli, still need to purchase my triple monitors. I don't expect to max at 120, nor do I expect to get above 8x on both aa and as. Triple monitors will eat at it. Triple sli would most likely be optimal, however, you have to take into consideration the cooling and that they will sit right on top of each other.

Sli cards should run things just fine, even bf3. The thing you have to remember is triple monitors will drop framerates quite a bit. I am normally a "stay well over 60 fps" kind of guy. I like to hit at least 90, but with triple monitors I will have to lower my standard.

The biggest game I plan on getting is bf3, and as long as I can hit 60 I will be happy. Your graphics may have to take a hit, but I am sure the game will look just fine (to stay above 60 that is).

Yeah ha ha .

Hmmm as for tri sli, you think with a board like the Maximus IV extreme they would be cooler, seeing how its a massive board with good scaling?

I can afford the two cards now, possibly a third in January/or maybe even within a few months.

I am also a 60fps minimum kinda person, at least for FPS, which my current rig does quite well, but thats on a single monitor at not much higher than 1080p.

I am guessing when im in serious mode (lol lame) when playing fps i can just play on 1 monitor.

I don't plan on getting a third, but What I would probably do is get the three monitors and the two cards and see how they do on things.

I am personally ok with turning off aa if I have to for triple monitors. I am also ok if I have to lower the resoltuion slightly. I imagine it would hardly be noticeable on such an already massive resoltution. I don't expect to have to do that, but see how the two cards perform before you get a third. Worst case scenario, we have to tough it out until some better video cards come out.

My next upgrade: maxwell lol. I think 2 of those cards should do the job fine.

With triple monitors I would not be surpirsed if you had to give up a little bit though, but I dont think it would be too much. These cards are powerhouses.

Maximus 4 is right above mine, but I didn't like the pci layout on it. Either one should do fine for tri sli, but I would be more concerned with the cooling of the cards. Extra fans would be necessary.

well i will be running an open tech bench , as of right now even my reference 580 sc with a 900 core OC usually never breaks 80c and that even with a low fan profile of like 60%.

We will see, i dont plan on OCing the cards that crazy, probably just 900 core or so.
