So no matter what even the easiest monsters will be higher level than you in inferno difficulty. It should be very hard.
yah i did, but the monster levels governed only their stats... they could easily tone down the stats for hell and make inferno monster stats comparable to d2 hell.

part of what made d2 hell so difficult was not the monster levels but the increased number of modifiers on them... stuff like immunities, faster attack speed, faster movement speed. they could easily tone this down for d3 hell and put them in inferno.

just saying it's entirely possible that this will be the case. i hope not though.

I could beat the easier difficulty no problem, but was struggling to stay alive 20 seconds into the game on hell difficulty...
This was a real problem for people a lot of times. Usually it was solved grouping up in multiplayer.

A hammerdin could destroy an 8 person hell game by himself, easily. So could an infinity sorc, esp with some ES.

The new difficulty level means nothing right now, UNLESS they make scalable damage, such as one in Borderlands. That is, if the enemy is higher level than you, you deal significantly less damage to it. In D2, only experience scaled with level difference, damage did not.

$10 says its not as hard as Median mod on D2 I dislike the no level 99 challenge though...another thing they tore from the game. I try not to be a "fan boy" but this is like Far Cry 2 anymore, looks nothing like the original and only shares the name.

Exactly what I thought when I read the title.

Even so, I think inferno will be the new hell.

Diablo2 came from an era when games were very unforgiving, now games are for mass market.

Already knew that there would be an 'Inferno' difficulty. It was revealed the 1st of August I believe, so this isn't exactly news for anyone who has been following the game.

Cool nonetheless. No pun intended.

Attack Rating ( Chance to hit target vs defense ) is dependent on the levels of both...

what made diablo 2 hell difficult was the fact that your resistance was greatly reduced in Hell and act 5 had these thigns that shot lightning at rediculous amounts of damage.

Most successful builds used skills that did not consider AR (Hammer, sorc, nec, elemental druids), and ones that actually needed AR generally had insane amounts of it.

Damage dealt and AR are very different things though. Sure, having a 50% chance to hit for 1000 damage sucks, but hitting for 10 damage 100% of the time sucks many times more.
