Constant system restarts... - Page 2

Have you tried clearing the CMOS first?

About the BIOS flash, what if during the flash your system decides to "take a nap'?

That would brick it wouldn't it?

Well, do not listen blindly to your technician friend, test them your self.

Remove any and all components that are not required for the system to run like dvd-roms extra hdd, extra fans ( run with the case open ) extra ram sticks,

make sure the load is evenly distributed on your PSU for the remaining components,

make sure no power cable is not plugged in completely

Make sure its not ur case power button ( happened to a friend of mine ) that's somehow making contact when its not supposed too.

You should also list all the steps in detail that you attempted to solve this so others do not recommend something already attempted and to narrow the possibilities.

Also have a desk lamp plugged in the same outlet as your computer and turned on so you notice if there are power fluctuations.

Can you look in the BIOS ?
If you can, look at the CPU thermal shutdown temps, if they somehow got changed too low it would shutdown right away.

Same as like some of the PC's I've had that come in that were packed, I mean PACKED with dirt/dust/dustbunnies etc...
They would shut off after a few seconds from start up because of the heat issue.
So since you have had it out of the case, the thermal cpu temp setting should be looked at. (If it has any cpu temp settings that can be set)

All my components work correctly in my Intel rig. I've reseated the cpu and applied another thermal paste, the system runs at 21 degrees in the bios, I have cleared the CMOS numerous times which had no effect on the outcome. I ran the system after a couple of hours and it ran for 35 minutes b4 shutting down. (Power switch didn't work after that, I had to unplug the power cable from the PSU and re-plug again)

It's definitely not heating up, it's not caused by a static, might have been a surge but all components have been working correctly.

Can smoke cause any anomalities in the system/components whatsoever?

If your talking about cigarette smoke, it would, but, that would have to be some serious build up to create an issue.

Have you checked your Windows event logs for any errors? Hardware errors?
Power settings in the control panel?

Sorry about the fire, hope the house is still standing.

If it started after this event, I would disconnect everything from the mobo and get a lint free
rag put some rubbing alcohol on it, enought to dampen it and completely wipe down the board.
Clean all contacts, pins, connectors, everything front and back. I would also clean all of the contacts on the devices. Most, if not all of the alcohol will evaporate and then to be sure, blow of the board with a can of air.

Thanks mate, the house is still standing. I already cleaned the board and every other component. I'm gonna get another AMD M/board tomorrow to test the Processor and the other components, I'll let you guys know how that goes.

I tried the F8 key and it actually worked, I disabled the automatic restart option, Found a BSOD Report/Log. System has been running for 42 minutes and I wanted to know if there's anything I can do to diagnose whatever is causing this?
