To keep things cool, i'd use a PCI-E riser to use the third card, and leave a slot between the first and third cards to let them get cool air.

Also, as Hysteria~ has said, mining is a bit of a touchy subject which might be cause of lock outs, even tho it is not officially "prohibited" by rules.

If you're serious about this (which, if you are, just wow....)

you actually ordered 3 6990's? and you positively want them all in one machine? And can you explain for just a moment how multiple 6990s factor into an equation without budget for water cooling?

Expect a fantastically loud machine with 3 of those vaccuum-esque radeons sucking all the air they can to stay below their melting point.

First, I do not really need to explain the details of the economical rational behind my questions, but here goes:
I did not ordered the 3 6990, a friend of mine did and he his backing out of the deal, and I start to know why ...

About the budget. Simple answer: No More Cash for high end systems.

Either it goes with air-cooling And the mentioned Mboards ... or else ... sorry my friend not interested ...

About the machine, I stated the intent of the machine as multipurpose folding and the forbidden thing ... , but not gaming.
Actually I think that board is overkill and highly expensive for gaming.

I will only take the order to that friend of mine If the thing can be sustainable with the mobos I have talked about and air cooling.

For example a Asus Formula Extreme, which does have more space between PCI-e slots, is out of the question for the same budgetary constraints ...
All other components other them the Mobo and maybe some fans are from previous systems of mine.

Regards.

Nice idea, thought about it also.
And about the touchy subject: I edited the previous thread in order to avoid any misunderstandings.

I really would like to learn and exchange experiences on this great forum.

Thanks for your input!
I really did not knew about the heatsink problem on the 6xxx series.

I have not made any commitment to the boards ... but your feedback is making me think about the hole stuff ... specially because of the heat problem.

I could also use one of the cards on another machine ... but ... I kind of fancied with the idea of having a Monster Machine smile.gifsmile.gif
A heat flame thrower machine I can see that now smile.gifsmile.gif
