$150 soundcard+headphones

I'm tired of using average quality headphone+mic all in's like my turtlebeach pair right now. I want something better.

I don't know much about this topic at all though. I see the audio technica ATH ad700 recommended a lot on the forum and these look like a good pair, any others in the 70-100 range?

and for a sound card I want something around 30-70 but I don't think I want the xonar dg card thats cheap.. I want to buy something medium range.

thanks!

mainly for BFBC2, soon to be battlefield 3 and some music

I use the Xonar DG, and I'm pretty happy with it. Very similar to the D1, and pretty much the best bang for your buck.

Xonar DG is a fantastic soundcard. Dont knock cause of its price.
I use it and the help with the added amp, allows you to set the correct ohms needed for certain headphones.

Right now, BF2 the Xonar is having issues with positioning audio. Dice said that when BF3 comes out, all that will be fixed.

Well in BF2 the xonar is having issues or in BFBC2?

what about set of headphones?

what sound card would i need that has a built in amp? more expensive ones?

If you want higher end card, then the Xonar STX.

Headphones is what I looking at myself. But if your in the US, then everyone says the AD700.

Well I guess my question is, is the Xonar DX 7.1 or HT Omega Striker 7.1 going to sound good and have enough amps for the ATH AD700's?

both cards are about what I want to spend and lots of good reviews on newegg

i also see this .. http://store.auzentech.com/auzen-x-f...shed-p117.aspx

any of these are probably going to be a great upgrade for my sound I just want whichever is going to sound best for FPS gaming.

The AD700 is pretty easy to drive. In fact, I'd say getting an Essence STX, HT Omega Claro Halo or Titanium HD for it would be a waste.

Avoid Auzentech if you can because their customer service is next to non-existent and you'll most likely be shafted by a dead card less than a year into it. Reminds me of the Antec SmartPower 2.0 500Ws that used Fuhjyyu capacitors back in the day that had a wonderful tendency to bulge after 8 months and start leaking electrolytic crap all over the place. At least Antec has a customer service department though.

just get the X-Fi titanium and the AD700 , those are a bit over150$ but it worth it

If you get the DX or the Striker (who basicly a Xonar card) will not enjoy the BFBC2 , and dont worry the Titanium is just good for the AD700

You dont need a 600ohms card like the STX

Is that this card? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16829102024

or is it the fatality one that is probably $30 more for nothing?

thanks guys this is my first real purchases for good audio stuff, usually always been onboard and get me my usb headset

Asus cards are not good with bc2, but besides that one game they are fine. Good medium range cards are Xonar DX and the Auzentech Forte. Titanium HD is good but its more expensive. Don't get Fatal1y its a waste of money for no extra benefits.

Headphone wise for gaming AD700/HD555 + zalman clip on mic would be your best bet for the price range.
