G930 refund for NEW RAZER TIAMAT!!!! - Page 2

more speakers != more surround effect in headphones. Think about the placement of all of these drivers in the headphones, they are fractions of an inch apart from each other just an inch or less from your ear drum itself. The separation of sound from the drivers is negligible and and severely diminishes the surround effect. It is not the same as having a 7.1 surround home theater system where the speakers are several feet or more apart and can create the large sound stage.

Imagine taking all of the 7.1 home theater surround and moving all the left side speakers to your 9 o'clock position and all of the right side to 3 o'clock. Not so surround anymore. Now I'm sure these headphones aren't terrible and would be just fine for gaming and casual music listening, but for their cost I believe that there are better more traditional options.

HORRIBLE
GAMING
HEADSETS

Hey, it seems you have started a thread asking for help buying headsets so you can talk to your guild while you play WoW. This is a helpful guide to bluntly state some of the finer points.

Let me get this out of the way quickly, straight up NEVER BUY A HEADSET. You may be asking, "Why?!" since virtually every uneducated fool has one. Well good thing I'm here, so I can teach you up.

Headsets are inherently a horrible idea because they combine piss poor headphones with a piss poor microphone and cost significantly more then they would cost separately, and I stress the significant part, its a joke. Not only do you get worse quality for the price, but because you are combining garbage parts with cheap wiring they are much more likely to break, and when they do, are harder to fix.

What you do want: A set of good headphones (depends on your budget), and a cheap desk mic. Personally, and many others on this forum will support this, I have the ATH AD700's. Great set of all around phones, perfect for listening to music and playing video games. They got decent bump, nothing that will blow you away, but their sound stage is incredible. They are open air though, so they do have some leakage.

Surround Sound... Since you have asked for headset help, it is also very likely that one of your criteria is that the headset you get recommended be Surround Sound because you think that will improve your piss poor kdr. First things first, you suck, accept that you are terrible at FPS games and move on. nothing will help that, no matter how much money you throw at it, I will always whoop that ass. But secondly, while the fact that it won't make you better is irrelevant, what is relevant is that fact that actual surround sound in headphones (putting multiple cheap drivers, all less then a half an inch from your ear) is only a gimmick, and a poor one at that. Not just a "oh it costs a lot and isn't that good" kind of gimmick. It actually adds NOTHING to your experience, gives you surround sound that can be less accurate then virtual surround sound with 2.0 headphones, and gives you significantly worse sound quality for the price, since you have very cheap drivers (there are 7 of them), and a cheap brand

If you still aren't convinced...lol go buy a razer, fatality, logitech, steelseries, turtle beach, etc and everytime you pick up those pieces of garbage I hope you are reminded of my post and your asinine decision.

EDIT: Grief, your post while moderately helpful is unnecessary and rude. Calling people names and telling them they suck because of what they are asking is stupid. I know you probably didn't write all that originally but really, we can all act like semi-mature people here and provide positive input instead of condescending rants

The Turtle Beach pair works on all 3 as well, but the F540's are only stereo and honestly, I like the surround effect in my games. That and the Turtle Beach's have bluetooth, so they can be used with other things, including wireless chat with the PC, which the Logitech pair wont do.

Basically, I wanted one pair that would work perfectly for both consoles, and one pair to dedicate to the PC, so I wouldn't have to keep switching inputs, or keep switching my "playback devices" in Windows, etc, etc.

I am pretty happy with both pair separately, and my discount made them pretty easy buys. I needed to upgrade from my X41's because the X41's couldn't chat with the PS3.

Thanks for the suggestion though, man, I appreciate it.

Ok, then, go find me a decent pair of wireless headphones with a wireless mic that work with the Xbox, PS3, and PC, support chat functions on all three, and virtual surround(which is a gaming effect that some people actually enjoy), for less than 200 dollars.
