Ahh, but then I would no longer be considered for the team.

Looks like a 2600K is needed full time for at least 1 team.

Then again...

When I swap my 2500k into my folding rig, I could get a 2600k as the replacement and put it in my main rig, and fold on it while its idle...

damn you trying to make me spend more money! Lol

Will the 2600k do atleast 40k ppd -bigadv on win7? (1866mhz cl10 ram)

That's the only way I could justify the price...

I read some of the comments here and people are just misinformed. A 2500k doing bigadv can do around 30k+ ppd with a high overclock. Just use a cheap video card and do bigadv folding. Dont waste money on a good gpu for a bigadv dedicated rig. A 2600k should have no problem doing 40k ppd with bigadv. I get 50k PPD in Linux(bigadv) @ 4.8Ghz and around 30k-32k doing regular smp in Windows WHS @ 4.6Ghz.

I plan to run my 2500k at 5ghz... Predictions on my probably ppd (2133mhz cl9 ram Linux)?

If the 2600k can't do "atleast" 50% more then the 2500k at the same overclock, then I can't justify the 50% hike in price...

Edit: then again... 30-32k ppd smp in windows at 4.6ghz sounds good to me... As i get 15k @ 4.5 on my 2500k.

I don't know what your 2500k@5.0ghz will get, however my 2500k did around 32k ppd on bigadvs and 50k on big bigadvs. Those numbers were with 2133 ram, 4.7ghz oc and native linux. I'm not sure about the 2600k in linux, I don't believe I folded with my 2600k in linux after the adjustment in points.

Well my 2600k @ 4.8Ghz with 2133Mhz ram was getting 50k ppd on Linux until a week ago when I stopped using it due to temps in my office. I never done bigbigadv with my 2 2600k's. My i7 970 gets almost 90k on 6903 @ 4.2Ghz with 670Mhz(sloooow) memory.
