Warner Bros Digital Copy: Itunes Format vs Windows Media Format

First of all, I wasn't quite sure where to post this thread so I'm just guessing
I can post it here.. because it is kind of software related..

So I just bought The Lord of the Rings Trilogy in Blu Ray Extended Edition
(btw greatest movie series EVER!)

and they gave me some codes for Digital Copy downloads

I went on their site and there are two options:

Itunes Format Download and

Windows Media Format Download

What's stupid is that I can only pick one option and I can't turn back after I chose it...

It says Itunes format is for Itunes / ipod / Iphones and such
and
Windows Media Format is for Windows PCs... and it is not compatible with anything else...

I'm not quite sure what they mean by windows Media format...

Does anyone have any experience with this??

Which format is better???

I'm guessing the Itunes format will be in mp4 format and Windows Media Format will be in WMV format...

Is there any difference in quality between them? because I want the best quality vids as possible for download

If you use Windows based players or PCs, pick Windows Media format. If you use Apple products, then iTunes format is for you. IMO, Windows Media format is more widely accepted. I use PS3 for playback with my TV and since it uses Windows Media server, Windows Media format would be my choice. I don't think you will any quality issues with either choice though.

Can you burn the downloaded movies on dvds or put them in external harddrives?
