Why does Crysis 2 not work well with AMD? - Page 2

The linked article by Dtrain pretty much explains it. Sure Crysis 2 doesn't run amazing on AMD GPUs compared to NVIDIA, but it still runs fine on the current cards.

This, there's a difference between not being optimised and not working well. The nVidia equivalents of the AMD cards just perform better in that game. That's just one game though.

According to CCC, 11.7 driver is the newest but 11.8 is now on the AMD website as of today so i'm guessing it takes a little while to work through the update link in CCC. Just go to the AMD website and download them. 10% improvement in Crysis 2 DX11 according to release notes. For me, it did as promissed. I can run ultra dx11 at 40 - 60fps now

lol with the new dx11 patch (which was pushed for by Nvidia) adds alot of tessellation, alot of it is wasted, such as rendering polygons for water even in a map that dosnt have water, and since Nvidia cards tessellate better, AMD suffers a little.

Still runs horrible for me and the release notes say 10%. There was a 10% increase for me, but that wasn't enough as it ran at like 20 frame at best. As soon as I get rid of DX11 I hit in the 80fps lol.

"Improves performance up to 10% in Crysis 2 DirectX 11 version for both non-Anti-Aliasing, and application enabled Anti-Aliasing cases on the AMD Radeonâ„¢ HD 6000 and AMD Radeonâ„¢ HD 5000 Series"

So why everyone keeps saying 20% is beyond me.

On what resolution are you playing? I get an average of 30-45 fps in crysis 2 on dx 11 ultra @ 1080p with some drops to as low as 14-15fps sometimes. The game is not very playable. I have a HD 69502GB that is unlocked and running at HD6970 clocks

Compared to nvidia AMD doesn't work on their drivers nearly as much. Hence why a 5 month old game still doesn't have optimized drivers.

amd graphics will perform well. the experience I made was that an Amd or Ati GPU in an AMD system would not perform as well as the same GPU installed to INTEL systems.

sorry for bad english

Some nvidia cards are a bit faster but more expensive too.
You also lose out on eyefinity 3 monitor setup with a single gpu.
So if you ever wanna try using 3 monitors, get an ati card.
