How is it copying Apple when Linux had a repository ten years ago?

Or is your contention with calling it an "app" store of which Apple didn't invent as they didn't event the first application...

What's that? You mean an "app" is a common conception that most people would inherently understand without some intellectual property inventing it? Say it ain't so! Why am I not shock that Apple Inc. lack faith in their fan base's inductive reasoning abilities.

*NEWS FLASH* Innovative ideas usually exist before their conception, so it pains me that a company has made a fortune for the illusion of innovation when every product that they endorse have existed for, sometimes decades, beforehand in some form.

I hate when Apple zombies say Apple invented the word "app". Makes me want to hurt them.

Seriously, Metal Gear Solid 2, a 2001 game used that word, and it wasn't even the first time I saw it.

Linux had an "App Store" before Apple did. Just saying.

If Linux had better support for more brand or well known games, design apps, and in general more companies investing $$, it would reduce windows market a lot, seven is kinda different from times of Millenium, 98se. but i really don't like it, the evolution is open source lot of companies understood but some others continue supporting Microsoft with licences in their PCs, etc.

Why would anyone be against this? It's a consolidation of software in an easy to find place, much faster then trying to find it on the internet.

Oh, I know why you don't like it! Because you're a super techy kid that thinks he's great with windows. You know nothing.

This is a good step forward for the average user and professionals alike!

Alrighty, i'm going out on a limb, a tree, a twig, a branch, in any order you think up...

I'm against this for the following reasons...

1. I'd keep win7/vista(yes)/xp/98se/95/3.1 running on anything, instead of run windows 8 (except beta test it and mock it).

2. App store for Apple is ok, App store (equiv), ie software centre for linux, and what not, is OK. But not for pc. PC is PERSONAL COMPUTER... not limited to what i'm told I can order...

3. Canada in the long run right now, for the next few years, cannot "afford" this bandwidth wise (general public, not the isp's). Bandwidth is a huge costly premium in the long run, and knowing how the dumb grandma will click this and that... virtually she'd use her bandwidth in a day or 2... and pay for it with simple emails and surfing by the end of the month with her life savings... Not kidding, this is proveable. Go to openmedia.ca and learn.

4. I like the option of having my pc OFFLINE every now and then. Not just pulling the plug, but not needing (ie office cloud format) online... when I want to have say.. office 2007/2010 running standalone offline.. Oh wait, ms will screw us with their new cloud edition, and fail us users stuck on xp still... (Yes there's to many ppl who don't know how to use pc's, stuck with xp and win98...no joke.. I had 2.5yrs as a TSR for an ISP, and this was sadly way to common in canada wide...)

5. For the higher end "geek" like myself, and many others. We like cd's, iso's, dvd's, etc. USB installable media, etc... Basically our personal control over our lives thoroughly. Sure we'll move on, but we'll also break down the code of windows 8, and kill it, just to install all our apps we legitimately own, no matter what microsoft says to get us to buy new shi*...

/end rant...

Well there is one thing I can guarantee you....

It won't be called "App Store" or Apple will be pissing a fit (with lawyers in tow)...

It would be an even better idea if W8 came with nothing but a raw operating system and file managment , a bit of net and some security. Then sells for $30.
All other additions to the OS , including remote operations, activex, net framework, the Browser, cute animated slowdowns, codecs that have been unused for decades, media programs that are easily replaced by free ones, Drivers for 178 products you dont have, all have to be purchaced seperatly . . .
Then you just dont have to deal with removing them :-)
