PEGI is just the EU rating system, just like ESRB in NA.

We get some stuff over here in the UK with ESRB ratings even though they hold no weight.

PCs have no problem with "regions" like console's do.

The reason he said the CnC games might not work right is because they may not. On two completely different systems and two completely different disks I was not able to get CnC 95, Red Alert, Tiberian Sun nor Red Alert 2 to work at all. I tried it on XP and 7 with all patches and fixes possible and no dice.

Oh so its a compatibility issue or what not? Thats pretty irritating. If I do run into issues with that, can you point me in the right direction of where I should be looking for a resolution?

I wish I could. I used all of the patches available that fixed the issues for "everyone" but it never did it for me. I think I was juts unlucky and something was messed up with my two computers to cause it to not work.

Red Alert 2 became "broken" under Windows XP with Service Pack 2. It was always hit or miss with me and that game on that operating system after that service pack came out. I recently reinstalled it on Windows 7 64-bit and with more modern hardware and... it worked flawlessly, much to my surprise.

Tiberian Sun, however... well, it "worked" flawlessly (had one crash in my many hours through), but it had huge speed issues when I was either building something, or when more than a few units/buildings were on screen. The effect was worse with larger resolutions (since it shows more). I've read the UI effect for the buildings/units queue was one thing responsible, and the newer hardware (GPUs, specifically) and DirectX compatibility is poor with some of the effects these old games used too. The latter makes sense. It felt like with the CPU or GPU was taxed to 100% because it couldn't do the effect and was having to fallback to emulation, as it was unbearably slow to even scroll or move the cursor at these times. With this game, it also seems hit or miss.

I've heard Tiberian Dawn and Red Alert 1 potentially had even more issues. Again, there's fixes out there like disabling Direct Draw acceleration (on Windows XP, seems you can't on newer operating systems) or some DirectDraw.dll file you can downlaod that is also hit or miss (some get blank screens with it). I do recall trying Red Alert back when EA made it free though and don't recall many (if any) issues in my not-really-testing-but-don't-recall-any-issues experience.

The "newer" games in the collection (Renegade and Generals) should be fine.

So, yes, just having hardware magnitudes times better doesn't safeguard you. Some of those games are known to have iffy problems.

I can't speak for the other games.

I got a PEGI copy of ME1 and I can't get it to play at all. Every time I hit play it goes straight to the configuration screen, which then coincidentally crashes the game like clockwork.

Could just be a bad copy of the game and nothing to do with the PEGI rating but it's the only game I've ever had this problem with. But next time I get a PEGI game from Amazon it's going back unopened.

Don't like gambling with my money.
