Pretty much that! ^

Also to get higher benchmark scores when the CPU matters. I've pushed it pretty far, but I don't want to go beyond the voltage limits as I can't afford to replace it or I would.

Its a challenge to see how high you can get....

Out of curiosity, what voltage are you running it at now? i'm at 4.8 and around 1.415v

Like twalsh said "I have an addiction to speed". Doesn't matter - bike, motorcycle, processor - faster is better.

I really don't have a good reason, I just overclock because I get bored.
My friend wanted to see a 5GHz processor, so I installed a Noctua on my 2500k and took it to 5GHz. Simple as that. =P

1.375v,
Worked with Sins Guide and a good friend here helped get me there.

I will have enough CPU power when everything CPU dependent is completed instantaneously, with no perceptible delay.

A 500GHz 2600k would still take quite a while to transcode some of my videos, or convert my music library, or decrypt and extract a large, dense AES-256 archive.

I can't imagine ever reaching a point and saying, "You know, this CPU is fast enough, I don't think I need to OC it."

It's more like "Ok, this dual decacore Xeon is pretty fast, but it's going to need at least a 50% OC to finish this job before I die of old age."

It's just so easy to overclock. I know in my case my 920 isn't going to clock nearly as high as sandy bridge CPUs, but 3.8 GHz was EASY coming from 2.66 GHz. I'm only at 1.248v.
