I am having some problems with the voltages myself. For the most part because I wan't the cpu voltage at 0.95v when idle. And I can do this only when I set the voltage to AUTO. Hope the F4 bios fixes things.

edit:Also, use Easy Tune6 to read the voltage.

This is getting a tad silly. These are exactly the same results I was getting with any other setting at 4.4GHz. Also, the PWM fan control seems busted. Even set to auto everything my pump runs 4500rpm 24/7. EasyTune doesn't do jack to change it while set to Auto or Manual either.

jdN4AQYJa.png

The 1.344 bounces back and forth between that and 1.356. It seems like gigabyte really dropped the ball with their Z68 BIOS.

I don't think EIST is the problem. I have a laptop with EIST enabled that I have successfully volt controlled with ClockGen since the BIOS are completely locked-down.

Well what I did was I booted into bios and checked the vcore there, for example like now in bios it reads 1.38 so that's my idle voltage. I then looked at HWmonitor and in the CPU part, not vcore itself, it read the same 1.38 which is why I go by that
Let me know how it goes and I'll help you as much as I can
If u need help OC'ing follow Sin's guide, its named 'The Ultimate Sandy Bridge OC guide'
I tried installing easytune6 but it didn't work for some reason
Thanks for the rep guys!

Btw your voltage will change slightly, 1.344 to 1.356 is fine, fluctuations just happen

I think the name of the game right now might be giving up and waiting for Gigabyte to get their act in gear.

When I set everything to auto and LLC to disabled I got this:

jb4Gyd3hV.jpg

4.4GHz at 1.3V stable. I went through 10 iterations of P95 and it peaked at 55 on one core, 54 on the others. What's going on (or not) Gigabyte? I think until they pull the Z68 BIOS together ASUS is the way to go for reliability. For cosmetics... not so much.

No matter what LLC settings and voltages I used it always ended up at 1.344-1.356 at load. When i used Gigabyte's dynamic vcore it would fold over and bluescreen within 1 second of prime no matter the LLC or vcore.

ETA: haaaah that 55 on one core was with CoreTemp reading it. EasyTune and TouchBios said 44 was the max.

Good to hear
If I were you I would go with coretemp or realtemp, temps look great try higher!
What did u do to make sure it was stable?
A quick method I came up with was to:
- do two 15 mins runs of prime95 custom with the FFT size set to 1344 (to do this set both min and max values to 1344) and run about 6500mb of memory
- do two 15 mins runs at FFT size 1792
- 20 runs IBT, or atleast 10

The FFT sizes chosen are the hardest for sandy bridge processors to pass, so if it passes them it gives you an idea of how stable your system is and run IBT to make sure you have enough Vcore and to find out max temps

Honestly I just start P95 blend then do whatever I want in the meantime which mostly means browsing the net. When I remember that it's been running for quite a while, I stop and look at temp logs. I use coretemp for monitoring because they have a sidebar gadget tongue.gif. It's horribly inaccurate (9-11 degrees high) on this board, but it gives me a rough idea of where it plateaus.

I can't stand to stare at TouchBios or EasyTune for hours on end. It doesn't help that the F3 BIOS seems to render some of the most basic and desirable features (Vcore, PWM control) inoperable.

Yh gigabytes's BIOS' are a disappointment
I prefer going with coretemp, although its higher keeps you on the safe side
Next time if your stressing try my quick method because if its unstable it'll pop up normally within the 1344 run, tweak settings till its stable through them then leave it on on for hours
I don't like leaving it on for hours because it crashes sometimes so I regularly check just by shaking the mouse and making sure there aren't any errors, but hey that's me whose very cautious

I normally prefer the quick method but this computer needs to be Skyrim ready, meaning it can handle running it at full load for many hours on end. I mean many, MANY hours. I could see doing 16 hours/day on weekends. Lord knows I did it with Oblivion and Morrowind both.

Does anyone know if Gigabyte is developing an F4 BIOS for these boards? I sent them a rather upset email and the reply could be paraphrased by, "Oh, huh. That's not how it's supposed to work. Your settings may be wrong."

Little do they know I have powercycled my machine over 25 times today trying to make things work. frown.gif

Wow, easy on the gaming mate ahaha
I hope they do bting a new bios out ASAP! Which is more overclocking friendly and maybe even a UEFI one, would be nice to see a change, but most importantly shall we say a 'stable' bios lol
