Actually H50 < 212

ty , i will check it later to see how stable it not, i just clocked it up and if it booted then great i just want to really see if i can get to 4.5 lol

dont see that happening lol
4.5 seems like a long shot for a 3.2 phenom II. But best of luck.

I am unfortunately hindered by my AM2 board and can't get much more then 3.7 without loss of performance. I just talked to my buddy and he claims to idle in the low 30's with his 955 @ 4.2 24/7 at 1.55 volts with his H80. Definitely find that hard to believe.

Get on your senses people and stop senselessly recommending the Hyper 212+. Although it is a good heatsink that I have recommended to friends before, at present it is NOT the best bang for buck heatsink choice. Look harder - there are better heatsinks available at lower prices.
The Hyper 212+ to meh has turned into a "meh" thing. The Sunbeam Twister is a better deal for around the same price - it comes with dual fans, better thermal paste and OUTPERFORMS the 212+. The Sunbeam Core Contact Freezer is a better deal for a lower price - it provides roughly the same performance.

Ensure your VRMs are cooled properly (heatsinks) if you pursue aftermarket CPU cooling - this will remove VRM cooling, which may be unsafe on a limited 4+1 setup.

Seriously?
In the benchmark you linked the Twister just edges out the 212+ by .6c.

Regardless, that is a solid cooler for the price. I might check it out on the next budget build.

Still we seem to be forgetting he wanted to spend up to 50$
Why undercut his price range and recommend him the best 30$ coolers?

The Mugen 2 beats out both the Sunbeam Core Contact, and 212+
He is able to get the Mugen 3 for 50$ shipped.

Best I could achieve stable on mine was 3.82Ghz 1.50vcore 55c max load prime95, but I've been folding for countless hours with no problems. I can hit 4Ghz+ but to get it stable requires more temps so the trade off isn't worth it.

If you can stretch for it go for the Antec Khuler 620, I'm using it and it's lovely. Very quiet.

I'm sorry, but "senselessly" is not the correct choice of words there. The OP asked for heatsink recommendations, we are giving him recommendations for heatsinks, and answering his questions. Correct me if I'm wrong, but here at OCN, we are supposed to answer people's questions and help them out...
