I didn't like it either. I don't get along with Bioware games, ever since a certain ally pushed me aside during a fight I was winning
in KOTOR. Too much forced crap, linear maps, bland combat and pretentious dialogue.
The only reason I have DA:O is because I received it as a gift. For that reason, I really tried to like it - I went through every intro hoping to find one that didn't irritate me (mage came closest - at least the chantry are supposed to be dicks), but they all end with the same dumb ritual, involving some guy getting murdered for not wanting to poison himself, and "me" going along with it.
If you push past that, the plot takers a back seat and it just becomes some generic plodding adventure, and isn't without a certain monotonous charm - although you have played for 40 hours, so I suspect you've gotten further than I did.
