A+ and Network+ certification?

post #1 of 28
Thread Starter
I know what they are, I'm asking what are some reference material and study guides I can get so I can get certified. My current job is driving me mad, and I'd much rather work in a field I enjoy.

I took both A+ and Network+ in highschool, but I never got certified (something that I still hate my self over). But even so, I'm still very familiar with both subjects (well duh, if I'm on THIS site I'm bound to be), so I can't imagine it would be more then a few months of catch up after work to get ready for testing.

So yeah, any books and such I can get? Practice tests? Etc? Up to date stuff please.

A+ is the high school diploma of the computer world. Go to college

Amazon has books. That's where I got my book for the CompTia A+ test. Check online.

I think even CompTia has some practce tests.

@Elite GunnerX
Sadly, A+ certification is required in the tech fields in this area. Also, your post makes no sense if you think about it.

However, last time I bought books for A+, I bought ones that were out of date by a few years. I'm looking for recommendations with books so I don't waste more money.

Hanging out on this forum for a couple months helping people will give you everything you need. I have to take the second half of the A+ tomorrow for my degree program (even though I already have my A+ from 2004, at least you don't have to remember memory addresses and IRQ's these days).

Just from utilizing this site frequently walked in cold for the first half of A+ and scored a 825/900.

As far as Network+, if you have a vague idea of what the OSI model is and how devices operate (routing vs switching, subnets, etc), should not be a challenge.

Well, I'm still looking for books on the subject. Perhaps reading a little bit during lunch at work or something and when I'm away from my computer. My phone does not have a good web browser, and it's expensive to boot.

Instead of books, why not just take a class? When I was in high school (hehe, not long ago) that's what I did. It was a 3 month course on IT basics and it prepared you specifically for the A+ test. I passed 1 and 2 on the first try, it's not very hard and pretty much all common sense.

Now the Network+ is an entirely different story... know your stuff, since it's a tough test.
