Serious Problem (Melting) - Page 2

Where is the battery on the computer? That might be a reason that ASUS would take it back.

Even if its not under warranty, that sounds like a serious manufacturing defect. Try and contact ASUS their normally pretty decent and see where that gets you.

Warranty is gone AFAIK and battery is located on the 'top' of the bottom half of the laptop. The meltage is on the left side.

Yep, that is where the CPU is. Take that back cover off and inspect it. You could have had some debris build up near the exhaust and there could have been some smoldering. I found a nice review thread on here to help me out. http://www.overclock.net/laptops-net...plus-pics.html

Ok so just got off the phone with Asus support and they said they wouldn't/couldn't replace or refund me anything (or the cost of repairs) because it's out of warranty. Can you guys think of anything to say to the to convince them other wise? Legally do I have a cause against them (my house could have burnt down taking my worldly possessions, family members and pets along with it)?

Did you at least blow compressed air through the vents every now and then? If not, Asus will just say your fault for letting dust build up and block the heat leaving the laptop.
